Default cosworth 4x4 oil pump beware

iv been putting my mateS ESCORT COSWORTH 4x4 motor back togever today and i was very alarmed by wot i sore we got a brand new cosworth oil pump for the rebuild . well let the photos tell you wot is sore and did












as you can see all i did to over come this problem was file a small shanpher to make a bit more clearance

SO JUST WATCH OUT WHEN YOU BUILD A 4X4 WITH A COSWORTH PUMP

IF this post only helps me and ( mark r ) out then that 2 motor that have been saved from some thing going rong .

Nice .... The second pic down, looks like the crank web has a HUGE crack running accross it!

shit i never see that when i looked before but it was 3 in the morning.
looks like a new crank needed there

Could well be, just the flash of the camera picking it up, but I would still have a damn good look and maybe get it removed, as it is sure to be a stress raiser

I would too Will......I got abit carried away with stuff like that and ended up mirror polishing my standard rods, along with balancing and weight matching them. Didnt cost me anything to do so why not

for a brand new cosworth oil pump that is shocking & as for the crack ????????
i think you will find it is deffo a casting flash.

hi lads just so you all no it is a casting mark / flash on the crank the crank has been out and had a regrind and a full balance and given a good bill of helf

whats an acceptable gap to have between them then?! mine has an original oil pump on and checked it and theres maybe 1mm gapish, forgot to check with feeler gauge but can do when i look at it again.

been back to my garage, first thing i done was to check clearence of crank with oil pump and i have no problems.i find it weird as i got the same pump.

cosworths cnc machine must of had a bad day again

seems to happen all to often with them imo
