Default 3dr fitted with a roof aerial, anyone done it?

Anyone fitted a roof aerial to a 3dr rather than on the rear 1/4? Any pics if so?

The 3 door XR4i never had a roof aerial as standard. I have one of the last and although the rear wing doesn't have the hole the internal panel is ready for the aerial to slot in.

I did fit a Ford roof aerial to an XR4x4 years ago and, done right, I can see that you might think it is a factory job.

Will have a look at how the Sapphire system works but on things for sure the aerial in the rear 1/4 is going to be history.

What an ace looking 3 door! Is there a resto thread or something similar on here about it?

power 3dr aerials can be had for 25quid new - just use the outer sleeve of the original ford aerial so it looks factory on the outside.

sapphire aerials are built into the rear windscreen arent they?

2nd that! What tyres are those?

Don't do it martin. The standard ariel works brilliant. Up when you need it, out of the way when you don't.
