Default Is this normal?

Took my plugs out and found this -

Plugs 1 2 3 4 from left to right..

Now is this normal on an RS 500 inlet? I'm running 8 greens. I think the car was overfulleling, but since changing the fuel reg today and setting it to 3.5bar on idle with the vac pipe off, its lots better.

I'm just worried there is something more wrong or am i being paranoid?

how do you adjust the mixture in just 2 of the cylinders if the rest are fine?

I was thinking its because 2 and 3 are directly in front of the throttle elbow, so they get more air than 1 and 4?

The car was overfuelling on the old reg, it was stuttery/smokey when cold, but the aeromotive one has cured that completley..

That's a lot of color difference, the weakest mix tends to be no4 the hottest, furthest from pump, soI would get the injectors cleaned.

seems strange why 1 and 4 would be rich ? unlikely injector control has gone hay wire on just 1 and 4, maybe injectors not flowing right and fuel not atomising properly ? does it drive ok ?

It does drive fine, fuelling check was good as well, if anything it was slightly rich....

I'm going to drive it a bit with the new reg on then take the plugs out and recheck them. Hopefully that has sorted the problem.

the problem with a fueling check from the front pipe or tail pipe, is the reading is an average from all 4 cylinders,
it doesnt mean one or two of your cylinders arnt dangerously weak, because if the remaining two are rich, the average will show as ok...

i would get it set up by a pro, who can det check it,

Thats probably the wise thing to do

If it is lean on those two cylinders, how the hell do you go about fixing it? I think i'm going to get rid of the super 8/8 greens as thats something i've always worried about - Would i notice the car being off one injector? I don't think so...

Siemens and an L8 for me i think.

when setting up an escort with an 8 injector set up
i had a prob once, wher the car drove fine off boost,
even fine on boost up to around 20 psi
over that it had a little miss, wasn't realy violent, but it was there
suspected poor spark at high boost
changed everything, still the same
after a lot of head scratching and double checking everything
we eventualy found the problem
it was a dodgy wire on 1 injector,
it was on the 2nd fuel rail, which is why it was running fine
untill the 2nd injectors kicked in
but even the plug on this cylinder was same colour asd the rest,
so its poss a prob with the fueling as said
but have a good check over the loom as well,
1+4 are always a little richer than 2+3, just due to the design of the inlet
but it does look a bit more than usual
but the dodgy reg wouldn't have been helping any
try it with the new reg but if its still the same then defo get it checked over to be on the safe side

btw i highly recommend seimens and l8
thats what i'm running in my 2wd saph just now with msd closed loop
very smooth power band and very drivable
and still deliver enough juice to match 8 greys
defo the future in my opinion

I'll investigate the wiring tomorrw if i get a chance

My friend had an L8 - closed loop/wasted spark etc etc and i drove a lot nicer better than my super 8 does. Better from cold etc. Also i'm stuck with the L8 - can't used closed loop and cant buy an ALS/LC chip for it

Yeah, talked to my friend who builds engines and he said its probably because the car was rich at idle with the old reg. That coupled with the way the RS 500 manifold flows more air to 2 and 3 the outer two plugs just sooted up.
