I put a vauxhall v6 into a ka which is about the same size as a puma bay, a mondeo v6 is way too big for a ka bay, IIRC the mondeo v6 engine is 60 inches front to back.

Although the v6 is hell of a laugh you'd be better of with a 2.0, it fits so much easier in the bay with room for a big rad

my mates really into his vauxhalls and i prefer fords,we were chatting about it the other day,and i thought of the puma as its similar size to the tigra

A Mazda V6 should fly in there.I've got a Cossie in mine but have been looking at V8's and they will go no bother.

why didnt you use the cavalier v6?the inlet manifold is at teh back of the engine unlike the omega/vectra v6 you have there, that way you might not have had to mod your bonnet.also how did you get the shafts and gearchange to work?

engine bay in a puma is bigger than a KA and a tigra Still a mondeo V6 would be a tight squeeze.

IMO it isnt worth it for the power youd get, even an ST220 lump. A modded 2.0/2.3 duratec I4 on throttle boddies would be nice for a track car and being all alloy wouldnt fuck up the handling balance too much.

put it in the back of the puma, you could use the full mondeo sub frame, it'd be sweet

I think if you put the engine in the back it would handle like a sack of shite. But you never know.

It'd be possible, but there are simpler, cheaper ways to get that much power from an engine swap!

I didn't have a proper look at the time but on first impressions it looked like it would have fouled the master cylinder, I looked at the saab one too which has the inlet like the cav but the throttle was on the right

I had shafts made in a local company, they're vaux inners, ford outers on a tubular shaft

I had to get an F23 gearbox from a facelift vectra v6 which has a cable shifter

I didn't notice the difference (usually putting oil in my sister's puma in the dark), so I had a look earlier, the bay is huge, even bigger if the master cylinder is ditched and battery relocated!

For a track car? Are you on drugs?

It will make it very very nose heavy, it won't go round corners, it won't make much power because of the lazy V6, and talk about an utter ball ache to get it in.

As above, get a mk3 mondeo 2 litre duratec engine, put some throttle bodies on the front of it and there's an easy 200 bhp for you

That's only the slam panel, I cut it out as a precaution. Putting a new one on in due course, other than that the only actual modification is the gearbox mount.

I have seen a Mondeo v6 engine in a Xr2 before and it did look good although the alternator was running off the cam

The engine isnt as heavy as you think as it's all ally

Yes I've seen that too, I'm going to drive the alternator from cam too as I want to keep the a/c. Seeing the xr2 basically confirmed to me that it'd fit, so I went ahead. Still got loom and driveshafts to do but it's pretty much in with little other mods needed.

Fair play for getting it in, but I can't help thinking that there are better ways to get 150ish bhp out of a Puma...

A set of cams and a decent exhaust would be much less hassle
