Default Toyo 888 tyre question...

Got a set of 888's off Martin last week an had them fitted today, they do seem very sticky

What sort of tyre pressure do you guys with 888'a run for Road / track ?
tyre size is 195 / 50 /16....

Many thanks Ross ...

26 psi Front

28psi Rear

Thats on a summer day, if cooler then tend to go up 1psi.

Cars a mk2 Golf GTI and the series I race in is sponsered by Toyo so I asked one of the chaps that work for Toyo what I should set them at. Probably not much use if you've got a Cossie at they weigh more

The Toyo's should heat up quickly on a warm track, so you'll need to run slightly lower tyre pressure's to start with, then the heat from running on the track will raise that pressure, by how much is something you will have to find out!

On my mk5 Escort track car I started with the std pressures, done a few laps then came back to the pits and took the tyre pressures, they had all increased, so let them back down to the std settings, went back out for a few more laps, then back to pits, took pressures again, but this time they were stable. So next time out in similar conditions, I started with tyre pressures that a few psi down on std settings so that by the time I had done a few laps the heat build up had brought them up to the pressure I wanted.

Tyre pressure is quite a delicate thing and can have a dramatic effect on your cars ride and handleling, so you may just have to tryout a few variations for the first couple of track sessions to find the best set of pressures for your car

That is a coincidence!

Well that's what I run them at but as said by Icurus try different pressures to alter the handling.

Stick a cage in it, join the 750 Motor Club and come racing, SOOOOOOO much more fun than trackdays.

Looks a nice one as well

Thinking about it the pressures are quite alot lower than i was expecting !!

750 Motor Club

Doesnt it work out quite expensive doing it like that though?
Are you limited to what mods your allowed sort of thing so everyone stays competitive around the same hp ?
