Default petrol issues

i have a 1.6 pinto anyway some idiot has put an SU carb on it for "reliability", the problem is that i filled her up the other day ( 60litres ) and its just run out, fair enough u would think until i tell u its only done 275miles... FFS my cossie did that. any way neideas y it could be that bad? i think it running rich but that cant acount for it to be that low... is there any way i can lean it out as i have no idea where to start on an SU carb. the other option is to get a normal weber one, but i cant find one for the 1.6

someone please help please

havent got a clue

But i know carbs have to be set-up alot more often than injection. SO maybe worth getting it set up on a rolling road by someone that knows about carbs. There used to be a good carb rolling road in Sittingbourne (Kent) called BD engineering, they set my mates 1.4 Nova SR up on twin 40's and it went like rocket, i was very impressed, but wouldnt use them for injection cars
