Default 2wd or 4wd?

ok, the eternal question

should i go 2wd with the estate or stick with the 4wd set up?

2wd = fun but at the expensive of getting it wrong killing the car

4wd = cost of the box but security of knowing there is grip there

i'm starting to get to work on the motor now and want to try out some new things so this is one of those items that i really need to sort first of all

any suggestions welcome

I would say it depends on your driving skills and how much of a loon you are whilst driving. If you fancy a change, go 2wd but if you are to reliant on your 4x4 to keep you on the road then forget it.

i've got soo used to the car being 4wd i'm not really to keen on ditching it

but i'm looking at another pwoerplant where 4wd is going to mean a lot of changes so want to stick to the tried and tested easy rwd layout as it's both tried, tested and cheap

but i don't think i've got the skills to drive it fast without the security of having the 4wd set up

thing is, the estate body is a bit of a mess, but the engine is cracking, so i just want to drop the engine into a body that's good while i get the shell sorted and then put it in again, but is it worth all the hassle?

Dojj - go 2wd but take it easy at first until you get used to it breaking away everytime you plant your foot.

Some practice coming out of junctions ia always good and very fun.

I used to nail my cossie at 6000rpm and it loved it snaking all over the road and nothing broke was trying to break the box for 5 years and still ltook all the abuse

rwd is fine.........even in big power sierras I dunno what all the fuss is about TBH and thats coming from a Datsun GTiR.

once you know the score its easy to push them and drive them confidently.

its when you're NOt pushign them you have to watch out (half asleep/ not expecting it etc etc)

So the question IS.................is it going to be an every day type car OR your weekend fun car?

I've tried both and the inability of the 2wd to get the power down on a damp/wet road really pissed me off.

0-60 a 4x4 is always faster. 350bhp will be fine on an MT75. I can't break mine LOL

2wd

but it does depend on your skills IMO, if you scared of the back end sliding out etc then go 4x4

personally there was something thrilling about being able to get the back end out when i wanted, it made me feel very macho!

.....my 4x4 hangs out plenty.......i say this all the time when people get in my 4x4 they allways seem to hold on and say...."ya cant drive like that in a 2wd"........(but i do think from time to time about going 2wd aswell)
