Honda has become an independent team, with a Merc engine. Gone from having the least powerful engine on the grid, to the most powerful. Button and Barichello are driving for them. Car looks good, but not sure about the highlighter pen paint job.![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)

Thas some sexy sidepods on that car. Almost like upside down ramjet scoops.

I said engine, not CAR.
Here's a few seconds of it at Silverstone.

I'm well aware of what you wrote. Unlike certain individuals I can read a page of text and see the facts. Not see the "invisible only to people who post YouTube videos about controlled demolitions "information"
Historically its been BMW, Ferrari, Honda. Those are the guys that if you wanted a engine built you'd talk to.
Mercedes, Renault are both good. But not as good. Renault especially as they didn't use the rules enough last year to upgrade. The Honda engine last year was a good one. Just it was in a cack chassis driven by possibly the most overrated driver of his generation and a man clearly on the downslope of his career.
I'll try and find a link.

the three that were going to buy Honda was Brawn, Fry ans Shumacker(sp)
Does anyone one know if Shumacker in with a part buy?
With thier knowledge im sure the team will go from strength to strength.

Brawn bought the team himself. Technically Fry who hired him originally now answers to him ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
Michael has been at the tests for Ferrari. As he's still got a year to go on his contract, he may move over in the winter.

Great news altho i cant see them being any good till next year at the least with the lack of development
Rich - straight fight in same cars Jenson would be very near the top against the rest of the grid. He's smooth, easy on the car, fast and can drive consistent laps. Ross Brawn knows a fuckload more than either of us two and he rates him as one of the very best and always did when he was at Ferarri. Button has never performed badly in a good car over the course of a season

Can you find me a Brawn quote about Jenson Buffoon before Ross was at Honda?

Long time ago, under possibly the worst man manager in f1 when he was low on confidence.
And yes I can.....i'll dig it out if I can find it quickly.
Remember when the honda was half good, over the last half of the season Jenson outscored everybody including shumacher and alsonso and the shit finnish one and wasnt far off the championship. If the car had been as good as the others he'd have been right on the money.

Interesting!
Were they not talking about using one manufacturer as the supplier of engines for F1 in 2010? Could the decision by a Honda team to use a Benz engine be a sign of things to come? A Benz engined grid?
Another potential loser by this decision could be Mclaren if the above is incorrect and if Honda were to beat Mclaren this season! It will be interesting to see the politics as unfold on this one!

Tickets now purchased. Should be good and included concert by The Who after the race too. The track is now largely setup, still a bit to do but the fever is coming to town!

Wasn't it going to be Cosworth supplying engines for independents next year? This is just for this year I fink.

There was talk of a standardised engine, which could be built independantly by any team that wanted to, as Ferarri objected strongly to using an engine made by someone else due to loss of brand identity and Cosworth would supply any team who wanted to buy one with them.

Jensons runs? He did 82 laps but that doesn't mean that time was set on light tanks and new tyres to make headlines so they can possibly get some sponsors. Something HF1 failed miserably in the past. Though maybe they will be lucky and get the Woolworths deal

Saying that, a Ferrari engine won Monza last year so maybe they will want the decent publicity regardless of whether it's the white or Silver car that wins.

Jenson was doing long runs Rich...and consistent low 1.21.s something not many could match.
Mclaren had their brand new 09 rear wing.
Its interesting as the toyota's are actually looking very promising too.
I do expect normal order to be resumed for the grid in melbourne but maybe there will be a surprise or two?

I guess some of the problems with showing any of last seasons F1 in the intro is the fact ITV might own the rights to showing the last few seasons stuff in the UK?

Good News. Unlucky Rich
The miracle of Barcelona explained, 10. March 2009, 10:15 Uhr
Jenson Button's debut in the new Brawn BGP001-Mercedes was still hotly debated in the paddock. Was his 1.21,140 time a serious lap time or a staged show to attract sponsors?
The answer will not please the competition. The time was real.
"If people knew how much fuel we had on board, they would be surprised," smiled team boss Ross Brawn.
"Even with our engine partner Mercedes, they did not want believe it when we told them about the contents of the tank".
It is not absurd to believe that Brawn Grand Prix will be the fastest Mercedes team in Melbourne. For Ross Brawn, the brilliant debut of his car is not surprising. "We knew from our simulations, the theoretival lap times this car could drive in Jerez, Bahrain and Barcelona. When we saw the times of the competition, we were surprised that they were not faster."
Long development time
But how can a team that last year, despite the support of the Honda, only reached the ninth-place in the constructors championship, as a private team suddenly drive at the front? There is an answer for that: No team has started with the development of the 2009 car as early as Brawn's team.
"We had the time to go through all concepts. So we have been able to make the best choices."
Only now, time is running out. Brawn GP has to do their winter testing program in seven days. The four days in Barcelona next week followed by three in Jerez.

Oh dear! You really think Ross would admit that they were running on fumes to get a decent one off lap time. That'd be a great idea

The only problem I can forsee is that Brawn GP reckon they already have their aeropack for melbourne......others dont yet so they may well claw some performance out of their improvements. However, ferarri are finished testing after this week and BrawnGP, STR etc have another test next week.
Looking forward to the new cars
