Default What RS to get?

hello all,

i recently has my punto written off by a very nice audi driver and im very intersted in buying an RS with the insurance money, just stuck on what to go for.

ERST S1 / ERST S2 / FRST / MK 5 RS 2000 4x4

im 19 with 1 years no claims i know the insurance is high however i have put funds aside for that. i have £3000 to spend. i will be using it for a daily driver and mainly short trips to work.

thanks ,
Alan

S2. Easier to drive everyday than a S1 and is a proper RS. Sorry, but the RS2000 Mk5 Escort's just aren't.

Bear in mind that the cars are nearly 20 years old now, and that's the newest ones. Go over it thoroughly and know what you're buying fella. So much to look out for, do your research first so you don't buy a pup

just watch what you buy if you go for a s1 or s2(s2 be better as a daily driver)
they rot badly, and they're heavy on engines and gearbox's
there is still good 1's out there
but do your research before you go looking as theres to many dogs out there being sold as good 1's

S1, way out of your budget

RS2000, just an escort with an RS badge

S2 and FRST, shop very carefully!!

£3000 will you get you an excellent example of a fiesta or more importantly escort turbo.

It wont obviosly leave you much incase it goes wrong but the standard of car you can buy with that money in todays market will get you a trouble free clean car.

Very recently a 60K from new mint white fiesta rs was up for 3.5k which to be fair looked like a stunning example.

You will get even more for youre money with an escort.

£3000 will get you a nice S2 but make sure it IS a nice one! Take your mate with you if he knows about S2's (or someone that does) as there are plenty of dogs about mate.

I would go for the Fiesta Turbo, its easy to live with, fun, still look good.
Escort comes with Lsd which is useful. S2 easier to live with. S1 not for everday use. To good to use everyday. Also abit out of your budget for a tidy example.
To be honest I would use neither for a everyday car.

As already mentioned the S1 would cost quite a bit more than 3k to bag a good one.

The RS2000 is a good car but for me just isnt that much fun to drive compared to an RST although would be more comfortable and I would think more reliable too.

I've owned an S2 and FRST and if I were to buy another RST, my money would be going on a good fiesta. Should get a reasonable one for 3k.

Don't know what I'd do with all my time if I sold it!!!!!
Mine's had at least £3k spent on it in the last 12 months, don't buy a dog mate or you'll sooooo regret it

RS2000 is actually a very good car when you think about it, Engine is built like a house brick, Chain driven etc etc = Very reabile engines much more user friendly than a RS Turbo.

There Handling is not too shabby either!

As much as i love RS Turbo's (im not even a big fan of RS2k's), people can't knock the RS2000!

but for the money you have, you could get a very nice S2 for that or even get yourself a nice RS2k & have some change left!

Here you go , heres an idea. As with most 20 year old cars they will need a little tlc ,if you dont like tlc then get a NEW car

Having owned both, I beg to differ - the mk5/mk6 rs 2000 is twice the car than a series 2. More reliable, faster, handles better, more comfortable etc etc.

RS 2000 is the one i'd have especially if its a daily drive.

Everyday car has to be either the Escort RS2000 or the Fiesta RS1800, I've had both plus 3 2wd saffs, 1 3dr, 2 S2 RS Turbos, 1 S1 RS Turbo, 1 Fiesta RS Turbo and out of all of them I would go for the 2000 or the 1800 as my daily drive and did...

The Mk5 RS2000 in 4wd is a rare car, will be hard to find one.

Out of your choice i would say the RS2000 for a daily driver then the S2

I wouldn't have an RS as a daily driver full stop. If you can afford an S1, get it they are going to be worth the money in the long run. Buy a £100 banger for your daily - it will keep the excitement/enthusiasm when you go for a burn. Plus you'll save a lot on fuel and maintenance costs

A nice white or Red Fiesta RS Turbo. Too many S2's about. Not many FRST's about now. Always wanted one. I went out twice to buy a Fiesta Turbo and cane back with Escort's

Still though. Very hard to find a nice one.

RS2000's after Mk5 are pap. Cossie wannabes

out of the turbo's I'd get the S2, just look after it, don't go too mental with the mods and it'll be fine so long as you got a good one in the first place.

3k is a bit of a cross over mark with them though, there are shite cars and good cars at that price, be carefull and you'll be grinning from ear to ear for a long time (cos thats what RS's are for)
