How the hell do you get 18s on a RST
hi
ive been having a search through the forums and found the gorgeous car
but how the hell do you get 18s on a escort ?? ive got 17s , gaz Coilovers and a rear disc coversion on mine and its a nightmare always rubbing on the rear and the left wheel actually starting catching on the coilover its self and ive had to have a 3mm spacer fitted so it dosnt catch but this has left me with less room in the arch to play with
but id love to ba able to make my car look similar to to this but have the feeling it cant be done with my car
also are those rims diamond cut ?

It Wasnt Me!
undo 4 or 8 wheel nuts if u wish to do 2 wheels at a time, Jack it up on jacking point/chassis leg, unscrew the wheel nuts, satke off old wheel, replace with nice shiny 18" wheel...screw wheel nuts bk on, making sure u use a locking nut so these new wheels dont fall off into chav hands, tighten slightly, lower jack, take jack out from udner car, tighten wheel nuts to specified torque bobs yer uncle.....it prob wont drive tho

Just need the right size wheel, the good thing about the arospeed wheels is there only 7 or 7.5j wide, so they wont scrub out on the arches or the inner wing.
Fitted my 18's over 4 years ago now, you do need to trim the metal arch, and the plastic bodykit, but they will go on. They will rub if you put it too low, but its pretty straight forward

Trev, iv'e got kahn RSR's, there proper ERST off set, with the rear bumper, you have to trim the bumper arch wrap around right back, drill a small counter sunk hole in the bumper strip swage line, screw thru the bumper into the sides of the bodywork, then stick the bumper insert tape over the top
As for the rear disc conversion, iv'e stuck my godspeed discs on the back, nad they dont catch, could laways see if you can get a couple of mm machined off the face of the disc to bring the wheels in a litte

Itdidn't feel all that different to when i had 17's to be honest. But then i never really thrashed the tits off the lil thing. It still handled well enuff for my lady like driving, although it does run Avo coilovers (this might be your best bet as the suspension is thinner than std shocks and springs
