odd question,workshop unit people
basically,if someone rents a workshop/unit, can they stay the night legally?i have looked on line relentlessly for a number of hours now and cant find anything.a mate has a workshop unit for his own company and is looking to sleep there a few nights a week as its a bit of a drive from home.can he do this?i said id look, and thought it would be easy, but no....cant find anything at all!

Why couldn't you? Can't see there being a law against it as you are paying the rent for the sole use of the unit, although there might be restrictions on working with noisy tools etc late in to the night if it is near houses etc?

First, it depends on the terms of his lease/rental agreement, it may be specifically excluded. It may also exclude overnight working.
Second, it won't have planning permission for residential use and would be deemed unfit for human habitation.
He'll need to be careful how regularly he stays overnight.
