Default How many mpg on a sapphire ?

I know the question is a bit like how longs a piece of string but I have to go 220 ish miles down to Paignton,Devon tomorrow to visit a family member who is pretty poorly in hospital and I was wondering whether I would do it on one tank of fuel. The car is only running greens so it isn't that bad on fuel.I was just wondering what figures other people get.I cant believe I never worked it out before instead of just sticking fuel in .In any case it will probably use more bloody oil than fuel lol.

You should easy do 220 miles on a tank doing 75-80.

I used to get upto 32mpg on greens on a run.

Well I 'm running greys and I easilly can do about 400Km (about 250miles) on a tank especially if it is highway driving so I think with greens you can do even more than that!

A lot depends on how the car's set up imo... A badly running YB could struggle to get 200 miles to a tank whether on greens or not. I used to get about 230ish at a push out of my old one doing shortish runs...

Thanks guys, well I am pretty sure as it should do it on one tank.I just didnt want to be low on fuel and not find any optimax but I have looked on a route finder and there is loads of shell filling stations on the way so that shouldnt be a problem.Just hope nothing else goes wrong

They do around the doors, but on a motorway steady 60mph sometimes more, it's low milage so that may help.

My average is around 350-380 to a tank, but mostly local stuff, not taking it really easy either, I'm not on closed loop, but greys/T34, with 160,000+ miles on it, uses a bit of oil though!!

220 miles on a stg3 setup is piss easy.

I used to get that out of my 400bhp engine.

Personal best was 150 miles tho

I get around 300 from a full tank. Got to Manchester (from where I am that's 220 miles) on about 3/4 of a tank.

is that meant to be 350 or 250?

350-380 seems like an awful lot!!

Are they a 40 litre tank or something?
To think my 280bhp calibra turbo would do 40+ mpg.

Sierras have 60 litre tanks.

Which is 13.2 imperial gallons, and even if you only average 25mpg, that's still 330 miles.

My personal best is way over 400, but that was on long boring stuff about 80 felt like a life sentence!! worked it out at time around 38-40 mpg, was collecting some mail from Scotland, a stamp would have been cheaper!!
I generally don't get ace economy as didn't buy the car to go slow!!
As I say not on closed loop, and greys around 385bhp.

I thought they were judging by the 60 digit on the gauge

Think I had 500 miles out the calibra on a run same size tank.

Was gonna have a cossie as daily driver, but not now
I'm on 630 miles and fuel light hasn't come on yet.
