If your's is a conventional tv, the you could go 36" crt or 32" and over in lcd or plasma. Rear projection sets maybe abit on the big side although they don't tend to be as deep as crt ones.

owning a plasma and a projector (ie a separate projector and screen jobbie) and having previously owned a rear projector, there is no competiton or any issue of price / performance / size / convenience etc.

a separate projector is the best by a mile. you can connect it with one of the microwave transmitter things for Ł50 from commet and have pcitures anywhere in the house. you can turn the lense and have very bright 40inch movies simply pointing at the wall (any wall) or have 8 foot tellytubbies if it suits. the picture brightness matches the plasma if you are happy with 40 inches (and the missus is) or when the footy is on you point it at the designated screen, shut the curtains and have a big pic .

I have one of these, had it for 7 years, not had a bit of bother with it
Some people don't like them but I've no complaints - get it bought
Ł300 is cheap
Mine was Ł1800
