Cool race with the old-skool motors, but I thought the GTE was a 2.0 150bhp engine? Over the RS's 130bhp. Good turn out either way

As for the Focus, very dissapointed in the review, the guy was completely pants behind the wheel and didn't give much insight to the new RS.

But I love the sound, that chatter is very noticable. Lovely car, might be tempted after seeing what kind of performance upgrades come on the market. Then again, it is only an ST engine with a few more trick bits, shouldn't be that hard to dish out a few more ponies from it.

Watching the SKY REVIEW AT 12:00am ONLINE IN A FEW HOURS, hopefully a bit more indepth

S2 looked like it had aftermarket S/S. Had probably something like a 3.5" or 4" outwardly rolled backbox.

ignoring the obvious fact the rs turbo wasn't standard I think its great for ford owners that it beat the astra as it means that through the fantasy on the telly they got to experience something that they never could in the real world.

next week I hear they are hiring a plane to take a trout up in to prove a trout can fly higher than an eagle.

Who says the Astra wasn't though? I only clocked the exhaust because it was so in your face when the camera zoomed up on it when it started

Strategicly angled camera's to keep the boost gauge out out of screen. Bottom left of the in car rst views. Shame we cant see where the needle goes to.

Also as he's cornering and he says boost boost boost, it seems to come on quite strong. No standard rst has boosted that well that Ive been in.

I have owned both cars, well, 9 RSTs and 2 Astra GTEs both a 16v and an 8v.

and I can tell you, there is NO way a std RST will keep up with a 16v GTE. It was immensely fast! The only downside was corners. It wasn't great in the corners, but then the RST was hardly the best handling car I've had. Out of the two, I'd own another RST, but not another Astra.

even if a stainless exhaust was fitted it still would have a lower bhp figure than the GTE imho
