I didn't know there was a rule stating they must be 4/5 doors, but generally all BTCC cars have been 4/5 doors, there have been a few exceptions (old Civic and Integra)

Thats true , the old civic and integras ( both of which i have available on my website ) where built to BTCC /TOCA regs and were only locally homologated , these new cars are Built to S-2000 regs and are subject to minimum wheelbase and weights , generally tho manufacturers want to race the model that will sell the most cars to the public , in this case a 4 door saloon car . Logically as well a four door shell alows the placement of weight away from the heavy front of a FWD touringcar and allows an easier spread of weight .

The bodyshells are stiffer as std..... makes for a better handling car
