Default Trackday tyre pressures?

I did a trackday with my mate last year in a fiesta and we ran medium compound yokohama ao48r trackday tyres and they have worn badly in the middle!
Think we ran cold about 24psi and hot 29/30psi,Is this too much to have worn them like that in the middle?
Got another trackday soon and dont want to kill front tyres so quick again at those prices lol.

your tyres pressures need to be CORRECT once warm.

doesnt sound right that they only went up a few PSI when hot tho, you sure they werent overinflated hot?

29 hot is ideal straight after a session

Sounds about right to me, tyre pressures should be at manuacturers recomendation when hot so always check when hot, don't bother when cold, remember you can alter tyre pressures due to corner weight if you think your clever too...

As you can see LLandow did this to mine after I tried to mess with tyre pressures so think yourself lucky, and before you ask these were brand new when I started!

I ran A048's at 26/27 hot at donno and they hardly wore- in fact they looked better than when I put them on.

I ran 21/22 cold front and 22/23 cold rear.

Had to play about a bit with them as I did the day but after 2 sessions they were fine .... but it also depends how you drive on them and you want to be swapping them around during the day. Ideal would be corner to corner but as they're directional front to back mid day- dont forget to then change pressures.

What was the weight of the car ? Camber settings, weather etc

All have important factors in the relationships to tyre pressures.

There is no 'book' setting to run.

What compound were they Jake - medium ?

Old stock tyres will delaminate, new tyres will wear.

If you want to run the increased grip level a decent tyre offers be prepared to pay for it, they are not designed to last like a 30,000 road tyre

We normally put around 24-25 psi on a rally car but usually run a harder compound.

the actual tyres also should be taken into account too shouldnt they on a track day

road tyres will need to be higher than the "norm" on road due to stiffer sidewalls

driving style also plays a part to tyre wear too,,,,, i discovered that at the ring pmsl

oh and the cars suspension as tony pointed out aswell
