I would go to you local PC shop and buy a PCI ethernet card, you can get USB to ethernet adaptors, but they use software to do the work and it will slow you machine down.

Ethernet cards wont require any software to get them working, just the driver which wont slow down the PC at all!!

mr foster, PCI ethernet cards need a driver, they cards have a chip on them which read and proccess the packets comming in and then present the layer 2 packet to the computer so you will lose almost no clock cycles. The usb ones dose not have a chip. The software reads the information direct from the adaptor and uses the computer proccesor to present it to the IP stack.
