An un taxed car should not be on the road. police have been given powers to remove the car amd take it to a compound where it will be stored for a short while before being crushed unless the owner pays a fine and gets some tax. Often cars aren't taxed as they aren't insured or have no MOT, normally both. Given the technoloy that the Police have these days it's not worth the risk of driving without tax.

they take the car off you and you will have to tax it and pay to get it back, also they dont actually crush the cars, just the ones that aint worth selling on
IMO they should be forced to crush the cars but its about getting more and more money as possible hence they sell the cars

they take car
and llike said you have to
a) pay for tax
b) pay for car to be released
c) get charged with no tax
d) they could charge you with no insurance as if its not taxed or mot'd technically your not insured
just don't do it !!! its as simple as that same as people who drive without licenses as well

since 1 September 2008, you can legally drive or keep your vehicle on the road for up to five days from the end of the month without displaying a valid tax disc provided youhave made your application (by phone or online) before your current vehicle tax/SORN expires.

In practice plod won't tug you till it's at least 1 month out, as if you tax it in the month, it's backdated unlees you lie and say you are not using it when have, this was handed down to all forces as advice.

my cossy sorn at the mo,it needs to go 2 mile for work,i dont fancy taxing it or fooking about with a trailer,im just going to drop it off late at night and tax it in march so i get full month,if you goin couple of mile you should be ok if you dont attract attention, wouldnt do it every day though.
