People really are missing the point aren't they? lol
Not only will Tiff's lad ensure he sticks by the rules in future then so will all the other kids, they'll grow up knowing the rules and be used to sticking by them.
A small but valuable life lesson learnt today for Tiff's son I think! Also a lesson learnt for Tiff... There are two sides to every story... For all we know Tiff's kid might do this reguarly and this could be the last straw for the teacher?

it's the norm at my wifes school, and kids don't do it more than once because they get ridiculed by the other kids for not having shoes on
on the flip side, they aren't allowed to step on their feet either or else the stepee also get's their shoes removed
same for kicking, shoes off
and if they are too much of a pain in the arse they simply sit int he haedmasters anti chamber until school is over and their parents come to collect them, with the stern instructions to come to school the next day with proper uniform or the kid gets to spend all day sitting in the same chair again
then they get excluded
harsh but fair and not many times have they had an issue, rules is rules and if you don't follow them in school then what hope have you in the outside world?
taking the socks off and making him walk about in shoes that may chaff his feet though is a bit harsh, althoguh yousay that another kid lent him some socks so it's not as if it was terrible agony for him, in which case i could understand why you'd be fuming at ready to saturn 5 one into the teachers face

Why not say that white socks are a part of his & your religion/beliefs and it offends you that he and the other kids have to wear black ones, then before you know it the school will have a policy of white socks ONLY

Hell people got CAINED in the old days and chalk thrown at them. Not so many knife crimes in those days either. Not so many old ladies gettin gmuged or cars getting broken ito either.
In society, a little discipline can go a long way.
Maybe Tiff should go in armed with a shotgun and kill all the teachers who dare to ENFORCE SCHOOL RULES.
