Laptops for mapping with serial port, recommendations?

i have a toughbook at work but despite it's name i have managed to break it! dropped it from about 3 foot by accident and broke the hard-drive. not good. however, i do love touchscreen!
at home i have the dell latitude x300 with the docking station, so i can have a ultra thin and light laptop when i need it or clip the docking station on the bottom and then run 2 batteries!
