Can anyone tell me which is the starter wire on the ignition switch on my Escort Cossie.
There's four wires:
Yellow - Ignition live.
Red - Permanent live but goes to earth when cranking.
Thin Black Wire
Thick black wire
I'm sure it's one of the black wires, but not sure which. If I was to guess I'd say it was the thin one, and that the thick one was probably an earth, but I don't know for certain. The haynes book says it should be a brown and black wire but there isn't one that colour. Anyone know for sure?
100% the thick black one? Basically I've bought a starter button and need to connect one line from the relay to the cranking wire. I've done one of these before but I couldn't remember, I had a vague recollection it was the thick one I joined it to before.
What's the thinner wire for?
The red small turbo that was on the Automotive Unlimited site mate. It was for sale at National Day too. 1996 N reg, 36k miles, 3 owners before me and 300bhp conversion. It's really nice, but will be even nicer by the time I'm finished.
