Granada cos and Sierra cos parts similar?
Hi everyone. I am building up a project car and wanted to check a few details with some more knowledgeable people. Is the back end of a Granada Cosworth the same as an 2wd Sierra Cosworth? i read somewhere the diff is the same but i wasent sure about the rest. If its the same I assume it all bolts on to the back of an Escort Cosworth? and I am thinking the 2wd Sierra Cosworth gearbox bolts straight on to the 24v Cosworth engine? I'm sure you can see my plan here Thanks Stephen

Yo mate - welcome to passionford. There are folks on here who easily know the answers to your questions. I suppose you could give an idea of the year of cosworth scorpio (it was no longer a granada at that point iirc) that u are thinking about using as a check.
I think the plan is an escort cossie shell, v6 cosworth 200bhp lump, t5 gearbox with a shortened prop and the rear end (diff and beam) from the scorpio.
Can anyone give us a clue?
Cheers!

T5 box will not bolt to the V6 block the bellhousing is diffrent and the input shaft is longer on the V6 type 9 boxes and mt 75,s, the rear beam is the same,,,i think the arms are the same but not 100% sure
the scorpio 7.5" diff is the same dimensions as a cossie but i think it was 3.3 ratio and not 3.6 like the sierra cos
hope that helps
welcome to pf

diff ratios are the same.and the diff shafts are interchangable .so can use 4x4 or 2wd driveshafts

i,m not sure mate, possibly. but if you want a box to mate straight to the V6 you will need to find and MT75 2WD box from a 2.9 granny..but happy hunting for one of those...or an earlier type9 box from an xr4i will be an easier find

24v scorpio cosworth isnt very powerful though, if you have an escort cossie shell why not pick up a rusty saff cossie there are plenty around, everything will go straight into the escort shell with a shortened prop and the tuning potential is massive compared to the 24v motor

the bits on the granada you can use that are the same as the sierra 2wd cos are:
rear beam because it takes the 7.5 inch diff
rear hub carriers
the parts that are the same as a 4wd cos are:
rear brake calipers
rear hub carriers
one of the driveshafts (passenger side if i remember)
that said, you can just unbolt the front and rear from the granada and bolt them into the escos shell and you only have to change the front struts and the rear springs and find a shorter prop
leave it auto until you can find a suitable box, t5 has much better ratio's than the mt75, all you need is an adaptor plate for it

yup, 5 stud hubs and they use sierra 4x4 fitment struts
which is why you need to change the front struts as the tops are different and they make the fornt of the car sit way to high
the tca's on the granada are wider due to it's wider track so you could change them too
also remember that if you are going 4wd you will need a 4wd front arb and if you are going 2wd you need to keep the 2wd arb as the angles are different where they go into the tca's due to different drive angles or soemthing
rianbird etc will be able to give you proper geomerty goings on
