Default Had a Accident :( (PICTURE ADDED 10/02/09)

Hi All

Have had a awful start to the week. This morning on the way to the hospital to take my old man to have his eye operation, mum was sitting in the back behind my dad in the passenger seat. Approached a mini round about, stopped, i was clear to go so i continued on my way. In the space of 3/5 seconds, my car had been hit full force from the passenger side, spun around into a crossing island and came to a halt. Dad said he was ok and mum said she was ok. I've got out Screaming at the guy and i looked over to my mum to see she's covered in blood. She hit her head on the window as the car was hit.

So gave her my top to hold against the gash to stop bleeding, while i called the ambulance. In that time the police had turned up with the ambulance in the space of 2 minutes of the call and have seen to my mum while the officers took statements from myself and the third party.

Good thing is that the guy admitted to it being his fault. I was breathalyzed and was negative but they breathalyzed him and the officer told my brother (who jumped of the bus, when he saw the car on the way to work) that we shouldn't feel sorry for the other guy. So i'm guessing he was under the influence and my uncle said he could smell the booze off the guy.

So far i have had calls after calls from the third parties insurance and they have said this is a very serious claim.

My back is killing me aswell as my neck. I'm dreading waking up tomorrow and feeling this pain.

Main thing is that everyone is ok. Mum was able to come home today and dad being a soldier had his eye operation. What a Day!!!

The car is a total right off. The gearbox is fucked and the steering had broke aswell as the alloy rim being torn to shreds.

You can see the gearbox has just shot forward and the engine belt motors are nearly touching the front panel. The drive shafts had snapped.

The back seat where my mum was sitting, you can see the blood on the door card. Blood was on the dash and some drops on my stereo.

Not good!, Other driver probably had a bottle of wine last night and was still over the limit.

Plod set up a stop right by this prep school on my mum's road to breath check people, was surprising how many parents that were over the limit from the night before

Glad everyone, within reason, is ok!

I have, major whiplash. My brother took pics of me with my neck in a brace and strapped onto a hospital bed. Never realized how boring looking at the ceiling can be.

That son of a bitch is going to go down. He totally ruined my day. A witness said he put something in his mouth as he came out of the car so i'm guessing that would've been a mint to cover up the smell of booze on his breath.

Yeah very true. That was another thought aswell as him being on his phone.

I mean i had just accelerated from the round about and was doing a max 10/15mph. He hit us at 30+. I'm going down to where they took the car to take pics of it and get my stereo out of it. Nothing special, just a MK5 Fiesta but the car has done me wonders.

You and your family are ok, that is the main thing.

Just rest up and take whatever advise the docs have given you!

Hope you feel better soon and get whatever compensation/insurance youre entitled to!

i think i'm more freaked out at lasting effects. Touch wood i can make a 100% recovery. I'm more concerned about my mum at the moment. Doc said to keep her awake for atleast 5 hours.

Thats just because she may have delayed concussion!

If she fell asleep for a nap, you wouldnt know if its because her head had been hit or whether she was just genuinely tired!

However if she does start getting any bad headaches, or blurry vision, take her straight back to hospital!

They said she will get a bad headache but at the moment she looks real tired but i am keeping a eye on her. She is still seeping a little bit of blood from the gash but that is expected.

it is in the morning you tend to feel it worse I am affriad, added to this is that it can have long terms effects.

I suffer a bad back and neck, especially in the cold and have had a few knocks.

Can take a LONG time to sort out personal injury.

WHAT, take her back to hospital you fool, your body should clot within 5 mins, if not you need stitches to help join the wound and then again it should clot and stop straight away

also whiplash wont be noticed on the day of the accident in most situations as its a muscle strain, its a bit like over doing it at the gym, the joints hurt 2 day later so if you was in a neck brace within hours then 2 days are gona MORE than hurt

Dude, its all good. She has stitches but the seeping blood is a good thing from what the doc told us. Its stopped now and she mainly has a splitting head and serious whiplash but she is doing great.

Mate, i woke up at 4am trying to turn over and fuck me it was the most excruciating pain i have felt in my back and neck. Didn't fall back to sleep for 2 hours or so.

I'm going to post pics up later today. Got to go down to the station and produce my license, mot and insurance. Then off to get the pics of the car and a demo video of the gearbox. Need to show those claims people that the impact was at 30mph+ as it disconnected the gearbox.

I am so pissed off. I still keep seeing the images of when it happened. Especially of my Mum. The guy who hit us called me yesterday and was asking about Mum and i told him that she was in pain, she was still seeping a little blood and she's exhausted but she couldn't sleep for 5 hours because of the injury. I also went on to tell him that for a 53yro Woman (She looks alot younger) she hasn't a single mark on her face and now in the result of his fault has led to her having a scar on her head. He didn't know what to say and just said to call him if we need any help.

It may have been a little harsh but i spoke what i was feeling and am sorry if he thought i was being a asshole.

I was 24 when I had my accident and my neck and back give me pain now at 29. But then I was a bit stupid and did not fully complete the physio sessions, so only got myself to blame there.

MAKE SURE YOU CLAIM FOR EVERY POSSIBLITY,

I had exactly the same accident as you when I was 22, only at a speed of 60 I was hit, which spun me into an oncoming police car and writing of 3 cars.

Now at the time I complained of whiplash and after doctors and physio I recieved a cheque for Ł2,400.

However 12 months down the line my elbow started to lock in certain positions and after a few X-ray's my left elbow was diagnosed with extreme de-generation due to the accident (my cartledge and ligaments had broken apart and caught up in the joint). So after a lengthy operation and physio I regained full use of my elbow again.

I tried finding out. I went down to the Police station to produce my documents and ask the officer about the report on his side. He said he couldn't tell me. I think if not under the influence, he was on the phone.

Either way i don't think he wanted to tell me in case i ended up going round the guys house to lay him out.

His insurance company Norwich Union shit themselves when i told them that i wanted to withdraw our injury claim and give it to a private claims department. She was trying to change my mind by saying it'll take longer and you'll get the same amount on compensation.

I told her i found it to be insult to injury when they offered me a courtesy car for 7 days. I asked them if they would refund me my train ticket money for traveling to uni and back and they said 'NO!!!'. She then goes for good will they'll give me the car for 10days. Whoopdi Fucking doo. 3 Extra days. So i told her as i find that to be insult to injury i'm giving the claim to another company, they crapped their pants!!!

Heres some pics of me strapped up in hospital. Laughing and Smiling after finding out mum was doing fine.
