Bentley Brooklands
Hello again...
Anybody in the know?
Was offered a 1993 Bentley Broooklands saloon, British racing green with cream hide and green carpetting in very very very nice condition despite relatively high mileage.
It's got a n/a 6.75 V8 wich I guess should be pretty reliable?
Opinions anyone?

Lovely bit of kit, you'll have to pay through the nose if you are planning on keeping the service history bang-on. Otherwise might be tricky finding specialist garage to look after it, but then again all the info you need should be on the internet somewhere, so DIY must be possible, even for a venerable old beast like that.
Got pics of it?

No pics, was offered it today and went for a look.
Maintenance isn't really a problem as it's a relatively low-tech item and I won't be using it much, more fun to have sitting in the garage really.
Me and the missus have several 'modern classics' but none of them are used really.

I f I remember correctly the Brooklands has the mesh front grill like the turbo? Graet motors, but like any Roller or Bentley they DO NOT like sitting around doing nothing. Discs corrode to buggery, calipers seize, rear spring hangers on the rear arms rot out, make sure no one has topped up the brake fluid with brake fluid ( if that makes sense!) should be green hydro fluid like Citroen used to use. Rear suspension spheres fail over time giving the back end a slammed to the ground stance and grinding the underneath out on the floor. Their getting on a bit now but as long as there are records for plenty of work over the years you should'nt have too many probs....just ensure you have depp pockets, Done my apprenticeship on them and still think they are some of the coolest cars in the world! Anyone that thinks they are shit clearly has never driven one and probably never will!!

And yes Dave, i know you're referring to the new one, but "new" is a relative word- let's be honest, it's still at least 15 years old under the skin. I've driven it since before it was launched (no, i'm not minted, I work for Bentley) and I'm glad you seem to like it but you're really not selling it to me!
Ah, then you'll know that it spends most of the time getting fixed in the workshop then! I was tempted to buy your car actually (it was the one with the orange writing on the window, presumably) but i want a blue one, and i'd prob lose money on my own one if i sold it now anyway!

yep that was is mine that had the orange for sale stickers over at volta house.
decided to keep it in the end as i had no offers - not a single one.
Well it has the meshgrille...so a tarted up Brooklands then?
I like the look of the car, over the top nineties British decadence wich amuses me.
I'm not bothered if it handles or not, if it's fast or not...not every car has to be judged like or be compared to a sportscar.
So basicly a lot of niggles to be expected or atleast to look out for?
Am I right in assuming engines are pretty much bulletproof?
