Views and legal issues ????
Got a bit of rust on my M5 bootlid which will be a pain ro resolve so thinking of changing bootlid altogether Looking at my options i noticed there is a US spec bootlid available if i can get hold of one. So thinking it maybe a subtle mod without going over the top. Wot do ppl think about this and wot are the legal issues with it if any as doubt i would be able to run UK spec plates ???? My number plate is only 6 digits but could i run US spec plates ???

I cant help with your query, apart from the fact that if a copper stopped you for it then you can make the point that your plate is as big as possible on the 'standard' tailgate and this is how BMW produced them.
By the by, I think that Imola M5 looks fucking amazing.
Cheers,

I prefer the UK spec one personally but maybe try the low boomerang spoiler. The sort that was on the E34's? Not seen one on an E39 to really comment though ...

Just tell him the car's an import! Imports are allowed to have smaller plates. Tell the copper the bloke you bought it off told you he had it imported from Hong Kong when he moved here.
The DVLA states
"All number plates must meet standard size for lettering and style (with the exception of imported cars that were not designed for UK plates and have a functional reason for not using standard size plates)".
