coil on plug
anyone got around to fitting a coil on plug to a YB yet? there were several threads a few years ago about ideas but did folk stay with wasted spark?
do thye get too hot if built in ignitors?

i thought about doing it a few years back, then just gave up on the idea, as i thought the possible disadvantages (possibly reliability to engineer) far outweighed the advantages!

Do you mean sequential ignition and/or just running coils on plugs ?
You can run coil per plug using wasted spark method where pairs of coils fire at teh same time.
Sequential ignition requires an after market ecu at this point in time....

not yet using the MS live yet John but its now configured to run using oem sensors. apparently, no one has yet alpha tested MS with weber marelli tach signals but ive got the engine idling on it running sequential coil on plugs.
they are toyaota yaris as you say but maching the bosses down 5mm will not be enough, you need about 20-25mm and the boss in only 15mm. i'm currently modding the yaris coils to extend them down. the mounting bolt hole for the COP exactly aligns up with the cam cover securing bolts and with an 18mm spacer will make for a neat install.
Simon, i just read a post of yours where you said this was imminent for oem ecu but that post was 2005!
my concern is more about the heat issue using these as they do get quite hot (even with attention paid to the dwell) and with the heat of the engine i'm just a little concerned about heat

machined the tops down on cam cover on milling machine, easier shortening plug leads than extending the coils if you want to revert back in my eyes
