Default fiesta courier van rear suspension help needed

A mates father in law has a mk4 fiesta courier van for his work van and it has developed a knocking noise from the rear.

on inspection we found that the bush that holds the axle to the torsion bar setup and mounting bar has vanised basically...

has anyone replaced these bushes?

I have looked on FORD TIS and there is no mention of replacing these but they are listed on microcat....

has anyone replaced these before and has anyone got any hints or tips on how to do them?

is it a case of whole beam off or can it be done in situe and does the whole torsion bar have to come out or can it be done with just the mounting bar off the end of the torsion bar as thats only one end to line up as i presume its like a pug setup and it adjusts the ride height as there are no springs....

also are mk5 couriers the same rear setup as the mk4 ones? if so are the 2 beams interchangable?

i remeber stripping 1 of thes down a few years ago now for what sounds like the same thing,
the set up is just like the pugs/citroens, height adjustable torsion bar
i got bushes and fitted them but the kept coming back out on re assembly, were very slack in the housing,
i then spoke to somebody at the dealer who said it was very common on the needed to send the beam to an engineereing shop who machined out the housing and pressed in a new insert,
sounded very expensive so i just sourced a 2nd hand rear beam and fitted that,
i think that might be your best bet as well mate

as said it can be a pain in the arse

there is i rubber bung at the back of the sill , behind that is end of the torsion bar , you need a ford tool that screws into the end of the torsion bar and then bash it out with a slide hammer

most of the time the threads will have rusted away to nothing

the bushes are something like £20 each at a motor factors and i have a pair if you fancy giving it a go , was going to do them on a courier i had but as it was rotten i scrapped it
