Default Speeding or what.......

on the way to work this morning, come upto a junction with traffic lights with a police car facing towards me at the junction on red. As its green for me i keep going, next thing i see is the police car spinning round and and proceeds to pull me over.

3 officers get out the car, one who was driving said do u know how fast u were going i replied 45 (40 limit), he goes you were doing more like 60. I goes no about 45.
Anyways he said do u wanna go to court cos u was doing 60 and if you said you were doing 60 and not lied to me i was going to give you a warning (i'm thinking yeah course i'm gonna drop myself init by saying i was) :-s

He then checks my details and gives me a producer, with reason for stop : offence (ticked)

And to record the details of my MOT and insurance docs at the police station

Anyways he then goes next time you will be in court for dangerous driving

And thats it and i'm not sure whats going on wheather he did give me a warning or what as wouldnt he of given me another loads of paper if i was going to be done for speeding ?

I recently got a speeding ticket.

I dunno if it's different in Scotland but i was given a pink ticket and told to hand my docs into the police station within 7 days.

Hope that helps

he would have to of given you a verbal NIP right there.. if not then you cant be taken to court..
They can however prosecute you if you were speeding as in their 'expert opinion' you were going to fast.. speeding is an absoloute crime so it doesnt matter if you were doing 41 or 101 (except for points/fine) you would still be guilty of speeding and recieve 3 points and the standard fine.

sounds like you just got a 7 day producer and thats it

They would need evidence to do ya for speeding and i don't think them assuming you was speeding would be enough

pmsl @ Expert Opinion

I got stopped by the police cause they thought I was speeding once.

The only reason they thought I was speeding was cause i had a loud exhaust

Thats bollocks about 'expert opinion'. They need to have evidence that you were actually speeding. Ie a speed gun or a speedo reading if they were behind you and the speedo must have been recently calirabted etc. They definately can NOT do you based on an 'expert opinion'!

You have only got a producer mate. Nothing to worry about. They record the details of your mot and insurance on the HO/RT2 form at the station when you produce. This doesn't go anywhere so no worries.

Not quite right that. The law states you cannot be prosecuted for speeding on the opinion of just one person. But if that opinion is corroborated by a speed measuring device OR another copper who was also there at the time, then that is enough for a conviction.

They most certianly can prosecute you if in their (ie 2 of them ) expert opinion you were speeding.. your speed does dont need to be proved as it is an absolute crime...

Thats not true either. They randomly follow up some producers to check they are all valid and correct. IE not forged MOT or insurance

not true again as the smaller stations cheack em all up, the busy city stations randomly check em, hence why ya cant use moody insurance certificates in the stations, you COULD use em on the side of the road untill they now have the ability to tell the cars insured, the olny time now they give ya a producer is if they are fining you !!!!!!!

be carfull paul mate as to me it sounds as if there gonna report ya and then leave it in the hands of the CPS

i get tuged or a regular basis and ive only ever got a producer twice, thats for a seat belt and driving my missus car ( couldnt prove I was allowed to drive anyones car on my insurance )

but wait and see and if anything happends then go to court and explain your case, most times people actually get a lesh harsh fone going to court, hence why the old bill prefer the on the spot penaltys

most people say thank you for a on the spot fine

got a mate whos just recived 3 poitn for doing a U turn, he explained hes dont nothing wrong an the copper said he jumped the red light, then he said if ya wanna argue ill take ya licence off you NOW for dangerous driving

the idiot then accepts the 3 points for doing a U turn in a area where theres no signs saying ya cant

They aint gonna take me to court they would have to read you the NIP when there.

All the times i have been stopped 3 in the last month they have given me a producer. As i usually only carry the photo card.

I once got pulled over in a 40mph after accelarating quite quickly for a few seconds,

He said, if we had a Speed gun on you you would be getting three points cause you were going 50!

I apologized and was allowed on my way with a producer. Good thing i was in a Rover i reckon cause i way actually doing 70mph by that point, 6 seconds after the lights changed!

hahaha to "expert opinion"

The roads are funded by BAA only, the police are only there cos BAA ask them to be there to keep order and shit.

I'm sure i will escape his time
