Saff brake pressure reducing valve?
Anyone know if these items are still available anywhere? I'm after the thing that lives just next to the rear chassis leg that leaks about every 2 years.
Currently have a 4x4 item fitted to my 2wd as I couldn't source one last time I was looking.
Cheers.

Hello mate.
It's the second one i've had thats started to weep (MOT failure), got one from Paul a couple of years ago, but even then he only had 4x4 items in stock. Would prefer a new one TBH but realise thats probably unrealistic.
Decided to start renovating the Saff yesterday after ignoring it for 18 months or so, only a few daft jobs to do really, like the handbrake cable that snapped on the way back from Brunters.....in Aug '07.

Assuming you are reffering to the brake pressure reduction valve V86BB-2M058-AA, finis 1637851, these are nla as said but were £140.79p when sold.
I would put in a aftermarket bias valve that is adjustable, and replacebale for around £50, it will need a little fettling with till you get the best results.

Cheers for that Tabetha. How would a bias valve suit a braking system with ABS still active? Also would probably need a good bit of fettling to stop the rears locking up.
Steve, may not get it road legal, but do intend to do a few trackdays this year so need it in A1 condition again. Will probably get trailered around behind my super Mondeo!

The compbrake items are residual pressure valves, these are only for keeping a certain pressure in the sytem, so as not to let caliper pistons retract all the way back giving a better pedal for racing etc.
It doesn't regulate at all.
The abs is irrelevant, until it is active, but has NOTHING to do with pressure balance front to rear under normal braking, this is solely done on the rear brakes by this valve, so with a bias valve it is doing exactly the same, just in a different place, but you could repipe a bit and have it in the car if you want, it's position is unimportant.
Set it so that little pressure is going through to start with then experiment, best done on a proper machine for the purpose though to get a good quick job.
Or you could get one from a similar model with similar size discs.
