its not just about obama its also to do with his party, think back to when the democrats were last in with bill clinton, no wars, no bad economy, everything was pretty much good, republicans got in and then turned everything to shit

Maybe it's because Americans want a leader that can actually put a string of words into a coherent and meaningful sentence? Nobody takes Bush seriously when he can't even talk properly.

Some of it is Obama's race but I think it's what happened in this country when Blair came in. People want a change - any change - as it's a hope that things will be better.

Id love to say it was significant because it shows a lack of racism but it doesnt, you only have to look at the percentage of black votes he got to see that!

I sometimes think to myself it is the minorities who make such a big deal of being a minority. I don't want to turn this topic into one which is based around racial prejudice but mentioning creed/colour at every oppurtunity will only breed contempt and not understanding.

For the first time that I can ever remember, I actually 'like' a politician. He comes across as a down to earth, normal, level headed and very friendly guy... no matter what colour he is or isnt, as far as I'm concerned him being black only matters if they hold a disco for world leaders, he'll either be shit hot or dance like Carlton out of Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

If you look at the time labour has been in power inflation has been stable and very low, interest rates have been low and stable for many many years, unemployment has been under 1 million, income tax has dropped from 25% to 20%.

During the last recession at the begining of the 90's what did the Tory government of the time do to help business ? Fcuk all ! What did they do to help the public ? Fcuk all !!

Why is energy so expensive in this country ? Because the Tory leader of the time screwed over our Coal industry so sho couldnt be brought down by the miners like Ted Heaths government, but now now we have to buy coal and gas from other countries and the whole country could be held to ransom by Russia.

Then some greedy fooking bankers decided the werent quite making enough money and fcuked over the whole world economy with dodgy sub prime pikey mortgages.

But clearly thats ALL down to Gordon Brown, the bloke who, when chancellor kept all those things you seem to take for granted in check, low inflation, low interest rates etc


Who do you think is going to save you ? the Tories, a party of no policies or personalities ? The Lib Dems a party with no record in government.



As for Obama he is the new JFK, America and subsequently the world needed a major change on the world stage.

Obama offers poor people in America hope and for a country that 50 years ago would not let a black person sit in certain seats on the bus or in restaurants it is a major step forward.

I suspect he could be another JFK, shine brightly for a short space of time and then be assasinated.

As I've said before. ALL through History, whenever Labour have left power the country has been economically bollocksed.

Look at the more social changes in British society over the last 10 years. The deregulation of no wins no fees. Free and easy credit to every stupid waster that wanted a £2K plasma and a BMW.

The ever effacing PC climate. The removal of any obviously British thing. Vehicle Excise Duty up, Smokes and Spirt duty up. Fuel duty up? Crime up (tough on the causes too of course)

They were quite clear when they took office who all the bad things should be attrbuted to "those nasty Tories!" and when the economy was running fine they wanted credit (pun) for that too. But when it goes tits up they spout about "international problems" and "internatinal solutions"

They were prepared to give £20M to Gaza. A region with virtually no UK interests at all. But they wont help out various British manufacturers and their suppliers.

More recently they've had to give every ISP £25m to keep record of every email and website you visit. 1984 was not meant to be a role model. This government spends too much time trying to manipulate the people. And I detest them for it!

So yes, whilst I don't think everything the Tories did was right. I seem to have noticed more BS/incompetence from this administration. and lets not really get in to the WMD thing. Poor show from all concerned. Well maybe not Dr Kelly, but hey he's dead so why should we care...

As for no personalities in the opposition. I'll take substance over style every day of the week. And saying well the Lib Dems haven't been in power is ridiculous.
