Got a smokey T3 on my RST, noticed you can get rebuild kits on ebay, anyone had a go doing there own? think I only need an oil seal on mine as it still holds good boost?

 

I did my T34 and had no problems - But to be fair, I had bought it second hand and stripped it down to check everything.

Make sure you mark up the location of the compressor in relation to the turbine wheel otherwise they will be out of balance when you put it back together and the unit will vibrate itself to death due to a slight imbalance.

hadest part is making sure you put everything in the right place and making sure that there is no soot, carbon or other debris in the bearing housing when putting it back together

easy peasy mate just make sure everything clinically clean , also as stated make sure you mark all the housings in relation to each other

and important to mark and refit the compressor wheel in relation to the shaft for balancing purposes

and lastly dont forget to pre-oil it before firing the badboy back up
