Default Insurance and no mot.

Hello
My mate just phone me he went into the back of someone today on way home from uni and once he got home he checked his MOT and it ran out on the 9th is he still insured??? which i dont think so.

depends on the policy. my work partner wrote of his evo8 when 3 months past his first due mot and they paid out no problem but deducted the cost of an mot test from the settlement . £14000 minus the £50.

He is technically covered, so they will most likely agree to paying out for the damage caused, but probably not for the damage to his car (presuming he's fully comp)

But all policies differ, so it's down to the insurance company.

He may as well claim if he can, as it'll go down on his policy as a 'fault accident' whether he gets a payout or not.
