i was in "the nail" that thing smoked (literally) everything off the lights... lol
was expecting to cane it off boost, but then realised i had to put me foot down... not what youd expect from a vauxhall corsa!!!
me mate's got a 1.6 8v lump in his corsa... that goes well... and the GSis are even quicker!

Jim, GSi 16v has around 109bhp as standard and does 0-60 in anywhere from 8.1-9.0 depending on which magazine you were reading in 1993.
I had a Caribic blue one from new and just adored it... was a cool car and a cool colour back in the day

When i had my old 16i - it would beat my brother's corsa sport (no worries)
But then - it was'nt very good to use every single day - thats why i sold my 16i and brought an astra 16v - much better now

Remind me on the BB name....
Passion..... F... F... FORD...
I can't beleive you lot are even considering a poxhall... Who cares if it's fast.. economical, rust free....
IT'S A VAUXHALL...
Imagine how you'd feel everytime you walked up to it in a carpark...
Personally, i'd rather catch the bus..
What about a nice little rice-racer.. they're supposed to be really reliable.. Or a pug..??
Luv

I think the nova is gradually being bought by vauxhall enthusiasts and the chav boy racers are replacing them with corsas. That would put me off the GSI so id have the xr3i

Blinkered I may be, but I have a heart felt hatred of anything with a poxhall badge and will never ever ever own one..
Must have been a childhood experience but I genuinely do not like them...
Besides, if you already have an escort, you could look at an XR as a rolling spares shop..

I have ford tinted glasses so i would say it lacks much power but a nice car suitable for a middle aged couple

Rich, all jokes aside [AND ALL BIASES SEEING AS HE WAS LOOKING TO BUY THE NEAR CONCOURSE 3i I GOT FOR SALE ]
see if you can FIT in a Corsa first
If you asked my honest opinion I'd say get a little civic 1.5 with the SOHC Vtec in it.
I really don't give a fuck what anyone else thinks of jap cars cos they don;t have to deal with the grief when you sell fords/vauxhalls/peugeots or whatever and the new owners KEEPS coming back cos something ELSE broke
In fact, next year I'll only be selling vtecs [and possibly the odd old ford if its a nice one ] [shameless plug]

Rich, I got a J plate 2.0 8v Astra SRi, done 96k and it does between 150-200miles per £20 of unleaded. Cost me under £500 to buy (With TAX till March and 363 days MOT ) and is pretty clean bodywork wise Just cost me £35 to completly service it aswell
Use to have an Astra 1.8 8v and that thing done over 200,000 miles and was still going
IMO Vauxhall's seem pretty reliable for everyday cars, so go for the Corsa

Jim.
I started this topic with 'i need a car that is cheap to run because i drive a fair few miles every day. Why in gods name would i want an XR4x4. Starting the engine would probably cost £10
Thankyou Fletch my man.
At the moment i have a fiat panda. People who know the size of me should be able to sympathise
Anything will be better than what i have got, but economy is really the main aim with a little bit of performane thrown in for good measure.
