My best pal had a MK2 Astra with an EDS Stg3 Turbo motor/6spd box and according to my GPS that pulled 169mph and was not flat out, it maybe had another 5 mph to go but 200mph on 400bhp is not going to happen.

Ok, nobody gets it, Brunters, 1.5miles tops, motorway, 5miles plus flat out no problem, a cossie, providing the gearing was there for it, could do 200mph on far less power than Rod has, given more room, and a Calibra is way more aerodynamic.
No saying if they have, no point arguing about that, youl just look like a dick, but fact is its not comparable to cars done at brunters as thats about acceleration to high speed, not top speed

I'm gonna put 30 inch wheels on my XR and at 1krpm with 10hp shot of NOS I should be in 202.1 MPH range. What you guys think?
I haven't had it on the Rolling Road because NOS doesn't like it.!

Surely you would to raise the ride height and make the car car less stable for a high speed run not more, and how many mottorwya are flat enough for such a run
Probaly tal;king bollox feel free to tell me if I am

TBH mate i think what you posted wouldve caused a lot of arguing as you basicly said "It takes Rods car 700bhp to do 200mph, it takes Ronnies 800bhp to do 200, so i dont think a Calibra will with that power" and thatl cause rows cause the point is Rods and Ronnies and whoevers would pull 200+ (if the gearing was right) on far less power, but they did it in the space of brunters which needs that power, and no way in hell will them Calibras do that.
They need telling that the speeds other cars have PROVEN to do (Cossies, Skylines, EVOs, whatever) might be lower but they done in a 1.5mile straight, not a unlimited straight motorway like they doing, if you got those cars on the M-way and pissed with the gearing (with gearboexes, diffs, or wheels like they doin it) those cars would piss waaaaay past 200mph even with more drag than a calibra.
And soon as theyl let me post il tell em, lol

i reckon it would do it, given the right gearing and spread of power, cos it's not just about the peak figure.
if someone knows the top speed of a standard model and the power, we can work it out, more or less.
if one with 200 bhp will do 150 mph for example, to get to 200 is a speed increase of 1.333 times. that requires a power increase of about 1.33 x 1.33 x 1.33 = 2.37, so about 474 bhp.
but as i say, it also depends on how the increased power is made, what torque at what revs and stuff.

Calibra's have gone over 200mph before y'know, so not like it's a new thing.....
Everyone on here makes out it's such a big deal that "this" Cossie did it recently - do you all forget that 10yrs ago thundersaloons were doing it regular? And that the first to do it was a frickin XR?!?!?!?!?!
And the man on Mig has a point aswell - Comparred to Calibra's - Cossies ARE as aerodynamic as a double decker bus......

What Thundersaloon did 200mph then? and when has a Calibra been officially timed?

it hasnt, noone remembers what frank said or even if it was on gps or what lol
it was a big ol 3.2 v6 supercharged thing with 100 nos
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/254494 if you look there it says the speedo shows 298km/h tops but the car went on to 320km/h...take that how you like for the accuracy of the top speed run

lol @ 450bhp from regal, sorry![Red Faced](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_redface.gif)
this rick draper's comment? he is running a decent enough spec - autronic sm2, 363's, t4 i think. no idea how that compares to sunny's tho lol

I dont think its as simple as that, as you have to take air resistance into account too! (along with some other things that also increase with speed)

he doesn't claim he can do it at brunters, these 6 speed calibra's can do 155 in std 200bhp trim and with gps speed not speedo.
imo it would reach 200 on a long road with 400bhp however at what revs using the original 6th gear ratio and wheel rolling circumference i don't know.
the first question you should ask is how much money he has this being the only limiting factor really.

Dont woory ive challenged them, not much point me doing it so have suggested Sunnys Fiesta
.
Ive a collegue with a 600bhp gemballa Porsche which took 2.4 miles to reach a GPS 197 & said it was deadly attempting that speed on the road (France). Have you ever driven a car at these speeds, ive done 198.5 & believe me it aint possible on any roads i know , hopefully Mark will agree with this, you would need at least 4 lanes.
Rod
ps. The famous Skyline attempt (on video) was only an indicated 200 on the speedo & then they backed off & that had 1000bhp. Possible in the States on the Salt flats i agree
.

Rod, not sure you are right here mate.... Evo mag took a few cars to Germany to try to do 200mph on a public road. As I remember the Audi TT Bimoto and a Ruf Turbo R (alot less than 600bhp) did 200mph pretty easily. I know a certain Skyline owner who has done it on a few occasions as well. I have another friend who has seen WELL over 200mph in a few cars in this country. He is NOT a bullshitter either...
It would be VERY hard and scary yes, but alot of the Tuned Supercars that do these speeds will be much more stable than your Cossie.

I've got some in-car footage of Ronnie doing 0-205mph in his Skyline and I seem to remember the car looked pin straight all the way... And you can see the speedo going WAY off the clock
![Smokin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smokin.gif)
Not read the Calibra thread, but they are very slippry cars, so would need a lot less power than a Cossie to do 200mph.
Also ditto what Steve said, doing 200mph with a few mile run up is a totally different thing to hitting it at Brunters
