gt28rs(.82) will max out around 370 but will make full boost by 2.8-3k dependant on engine spec.
gt2871r will max closer to 400 and make full boost very similar to the 28rs, maybe a few hundred rpm later.
gt2876r will be on its knees at 450 but still be under 3.5-3.6k for full boost.
gt3071r should make 470 ish, similar full boost to 2876.
gt3076r should see 500, full boost by 3.7 ish.
All single entry .82

doug, not yet bud.still got to sort the box.soon i hope!
ksa, according to harvey it is gt30front and st escort cos back end.dont know the exact number for it
boost is strong from very low revs but pulls all the way.
its not 450 now though,it had the cams changed to less lumpy ones to improve its traffic driving before i bought it.meant to be maxed at round 430

I have a 28R on my Focus, but I can only get 20psi peak and 18psi held. I'm not sure if its just out of puff (as its the smaller/smallest of the range) or if the boost management needs look at.
Its making 310bhp now,but I want more.
Does anyone know if it can do more, or if its at its limit?
Many thanks.

if you look at a map for a 2871, it moves much more air than a T34. Seeing as people push T34's to over 420hp, I would thnk you could do well above 450 on a 2871. Thing is, the T34 can take a lot of abuse, where as the GT may not, so you might not be able to overdrive them so much.

Crazycage, I have the R, the 28R is smaller than the RS. Some people mine is at its limit and some say it should be able to run another 5 or 6psi without issue.

Thats where the issue is really, I dont actually know as the turbo was supplied by Power Engineering as part of the conversion. The last time I had it off I saw it had a .42 front housing, but couldnt see any other information on it unfortunately.
These are the pics of it before it went in.

Hmm. Well if it was a proper turbo directly frmo Garrett it should have the proper tag on it with the exact part number. Looks like something someone has made up, especially as the compressor housing isn't the same style as what Garrett offer on all of their .42 A/R compressors for this frame.
Assuming it's simply had a different compressor housing on to suit the application.. none of the ones listed want to flow more than about 300hp of air and the highest boost is typically around 1.2-1.5 bar at this flow rate.
But of course, this is wholly relative to if the turbine is flowing enough air!
Here are the listed models...

The 2859 says its good for 360bhp. The turbo came from Universal Turbos I seem to remember.
Thing is I'm looking for around 370bhp this year, so need to know if I have to go bigger on turbo size, but I really like this setup as its SOOOOOO punchy, there is zero lag between gears and its on boost really early in the rev range, and dont wanna lose this with a bigger laggy turbo.
I've been told:
This turbo is out of puff and needs to be replaced with a bigger one
This one can run nearly 30psi so should be ok
That I can send this one away to be modded for slightly more flow to get what I need from it.
So I'm a little confused as what to do turbo wise right now.

I wouldn't run a turbo that small for 370bhp. Spread of torque is much more important to me than being able to run 30 psi at only a very small operating range.
With the right engine spec a T34 would give you a 2500-8000rpm power band and knocking on 400bhp. Not sure how much more response you really need.

I'd rather stick with a roller bearing turbo as I like how fast they spool.
The torque spread on my car is actually very good, would running more boost through this turbo ruin this? At the moment, at just 1500rpm the engine is already coming on boost and starting to push hard, which is really nice as it helps keep the power more linear I feel.
I know the basics of turbos but am no expert, unfortunately....

Gary - I would. Shame none of the mags have done a back to back with T34 sized modern turbo's. The thing with the T34 is it can do 36psi reliably (ish...) don't know about the 2871.
