Knowing what I know now, I wish I had gone for the Automatic instead of the battery Tag that I wear.

A battery lasts about two years and sending it back to Tag takes about 6 weeks for the battery to get replaced and costs £125, or £180 including a service.

Last time, I took it to a local place and they changed the battery for £25 while I went shopping but did something inside that stopped the hours counter on the chronograph from working, and that cost another £110 to get fixed elsewhere - they never did refund me but I wasn't letting them loose on it again. And to think, another £45 would have seen me with a complete Tag service history!

Westy, juist buy a grade AAA replica. Does the same thing, looks exactly the same (aside from being waterproof to the bottom of the sea ), won't piss you off if you bash it on something and will cost significantly less.

Nooo, not the small one. I know the first time you buy/try on a bit 'oversized' watch. You might feel a bit uncomfortable. But after a few days. You'll love the bigger size the the wristcandy

I know what your getting at, but if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck. Why pay 10 times the price? It is "only" a watch. (Not a Ferrari) In fact I know of a few small collectors who use a replica every day to keep the real ones for investment purposes or for special occassions. 99% of the population won't be able to tell the difference.

would rather not have one if its fake.. as even if no one else knows its not real, I would..

same as everything, I can get stone island gear cheap but prefer to buy and wear the real mc coy. Guess its personal preferene.

RC 4... down bond street they are in sale, so nows a good time

If you aren't going to wear it a lot, get a Quartz Battery one. Its a pain in the arse to reset an auto and wind it every weekend just to wear it out. In fact, after the first couple months I didn't even bother being accurate with the time. Just to the nearest minute.

Try

re: You don't want a fake. Thats up to you of course. But the question I'll ask is. Who are you getting a nice watch for? Yourself becasue you love how complex it is and the engineering in it, Or to demonstrate wealth and status?

cheers for the links dude..

I wear a watch everyday so to have a nice one is my choice. I like the style, OMEGA is a quality brand.... hence I want one. Not to demonstrate wealth as paying a grand for a watch is hardly a demonstration of having a few quid IMO. Lots more on the market that are 20 times more expensive but IMO, I'm not keen on the designs etc.

My family have always owned Omega's, the old man had a duval that got stolen Never had a problem with them, so thats th choice of brand for me.

If you are going to buy a fake you may as well not buy one at all.

westy the discounts in bond street aint as good as else where is what im saying

i been there a few times over christmas to buy presents ect, the discounts compared to mailorder further north where the real recession is being hit, i went in tiffany to replace my missus dog tag,, on the website its gone UP to 215 quid,, it cost me 135 about 7 years ago,, then went upto 175 2 years ago hence i never bothered, as she bought me the raymond watch for work i thought i would replace it,, checked online its 215 quid, i pop into tiffany, ITS NOW 230 QUID !!!

same with cartier aswell,, they gone up in price from the last time i looked there being serious to buy

RC4 - nice one dude, will check that out. To be honest as I got to see how large its going to look on my skinny little wrist, I'm off to Bond Street on Monday so will see what they have.

Thanks for all the input people.

But, are there any physical differences between battery and auto types please?

if i ever get one i'd get the 35mm midsize. I think it looks better than a big chunky watch, in my opinion

fuck yeah.. just went and got one! Well chuffed...

DO NOT go for mid size, you wil regret it. Went for the 41mm, as to be honest, even with my girly wrist, only 2 links from each side out, it doesn't look big at all... looks sexy with the black face (blue face is sooooo last year lads )

Wouldnt budge on price, and apparently the prices went upon Jan 19th..could have gone to OZ and back a few times lol.. Well Happy

Need a stiff drink now will try and get some pics up tomorrow.

Cheers to all those that gave advice, nice one lads

I have a Bond seamaster. The one Tiff thinks is tacky. But I'm the worlds No1 Bond fan so

The Automatic is better. You can also wind it using the adjuster for the days you don't have a wank with it on your wrist

Not much Mike, they did make 10,007 of them! Was around 1800 new, so with this credit crunch/recession it's prolly worth about £50 down the market As you say, I don't care. I like it, it's cooler than my Tag
