The work will "probably" be done around the race calender so hopefuly should't effect any of the events already booked on. Great news now though.

Track days are going to effected at some point, if not by the build then by the cost, it will get to be a much dearer circuit to rent now, probably enough so that it puts it out of the reach of the RSOC

i think your right Chip, but i also think that they are going have to get the money back and keep it coming in whatever way they can - if disposable income gets tight for people as we keep hearing it will, they aren't going to be as willing to part with their money the expensive day out that a trackday is

i'm just glad the F1 is going there if only to wind up the ones who complain about the noise lol

Great news, just hope they can sort the funding out now.

Apparently to get planning permission Donny has been limited to 40 days of racing. This is due to a 0.5 decebel increase in noise for people who live facing the craner curves

Meanwhile they're proposing a second runway at the Airport next to the track.

1. Anyone who lives near Donington in 2009 has probably been there less time than the racetrack!
2. Anyone who lives next to an airport that's been there since 1965 is a retard if they complain about noise levels.

I hope DP can pull this off. Really teach those cocksuckers at the BRDC how to improve a facility to make sure we keep a F1 round! Instead of Jackie Stewart just repeatedly saying "We have to have one, we are Silverstone. We can't afford it" When they built a swanky new BRDC Clubhouse a few years back for the old boy network!

It was granted planning permission for a Ł100m revamp, and construction work has already begun in earnest.
But there remain question marks about its ability to raise the huge sums needed to finance both the heavy infrastructure investment and the annual race hosting fees.
Although he has revealed few details of how the project is to be funded, Donington chief executive Simon Gillett has expressed total confidence in his ability to deliver in time for the 2010 GP .

Plans to ban access to the circuit by private cars over the grand prix weekend and institute ‘park and ride’ schemes instead – a measure designed to prevent the narrow approach roads from being overwhelmed.

If Donington fails to deliver, Britain could lose its place on the grand prix calendar.
