Default Focus ST: bluefin vs Mountune ST package

As the bluefin site says, for £391 you get 50 BHP increase and 119 NM gain (On th road test article says 40 BHP and ~50NM, confusing, isn't it?).

Mountune Focus ST package is ~34 BHP increase and 80 NM at ~ £1000 (you get larger intercooler, k&n filter, plus fitting)

What would you choose and why?

Neither. I would personally buy my own intercooler and then go for a remap from one of the following companies. Norris Motorsport, Motorsport Develepmonts, MA Developments. If none of them are close, I would make sure you do your research on who is remapping it. Make a post and ask for peoples opinons on them.

Benni.

Go for something like a Code Red 285 upgrade kit or get something like a dreamscience which is mappable. Think the done thing is a forced intake (code red CAIS, GGR CAIS or wolf CAIS induction) turbo back exhaust, intercooler and remap. That's what you want to be looking at.

Not just anyone can map the Focus ST - It's not a L6 or L8! LOL

Don't just look at the peak horsepower figure; Why does the Mountune kit have an intercooler in it? Because in the warmer months, track days and the like, you'll actually lose performance without one. Have a look here >> http://www.mountuneperformance.co.uk/openday
it might be of interest to you if you're looking at upgrading, plus there are discounts available on the day too.

I'd go with the Mountune kit as they're the only ones who really know what they're doing.

That statment is plain wrong!!!

Many people know these engines FAR better than motune do - I helped develop it at Ford for example!

If you think the likes of Superchips and DreamScience know more about engineering than Mountune then you are sadly mistaken!

LMAO

OK

Karl, for example, knows engines well - he did R&D for manufactures like I have!

I think your commenting without the knowledge....

I'm talking about right here, right now. How much design and development work do ANY of the current Focus ST 'tuners' do on engine dynos TODAY? Please feel free to list them..

There is no doubt about Stu's or Karl's knowledge, but unless I'm mistaken they're not throwing themselves into the Focus ST tuning market at all? So saying: "take it to them because they're brilliant", doesn't really help this guy one bit, does it?!
