remember that from a few weeks ago
i was in bolton today near the a666 got pulled by police in road side check
had just passed parked police car doing 40 in 30 zone when they waved me in thought i`d had it, just doing fuel check he says and pushes his pipe (insert comedy here) in fuel neck and draws some out thats ok he says, i ask what happens if its red he says look up the road , up the road was a car transporter with four cars and two vans already loaded and two cars waiting to be loaded so be sure you really want to do it

I admit Ive done it in the past with an old astra turbo diesel.
I was fortunate enough not to get caught but to be honest I wouldnt do it now.
I just thought well its an old car, if I get it taken off me im not arsed, they can keep it.
I know a few people that have been caught.
My mate was stopped a couple of years back and dipped. They took his transit away. He had to pay the recovery fee, got slapped with a £1000 fine and had to drain the red diesel out and fill with white before they would let him drive it away from the pound.

no, the first time you get a £500 on the spot fine and unless you can pay it on the spot your vehicle is siezed. then you are called in randomly so they can check your tank and your diesel receipts.
no slapped wrist. no chance. theyed take a lighter view of you murdering someone.

I dunno about the fake filler neck you know.
Was watching some program last night (Might have been Nightwatch) about the coppers, and they had these ones in NI checking for Green diesel, and they were taking it from the fuel pipe in the engine bay!

If I had access to a supply of it I reckon I would, a mate used it for 18 months, but was working at a garage where a "Special" Worked also. He noticed red in the fuel filter when my mate was working on his car, reported him to the police. When said mate went to the cop shot for an unrelated matter they dipped his tank (Yes he parked his car full of red in the Police Car Park)
Long story short, he got £150, but was warned if you are caught again ure fu(ked.

Big risk. I dont think the emissions are any different are they?
So you would stand the same chance of getting pulled in the first place ie drive well and legally and your ok? I could be wrong, never done it myself but I understand the temptation. Theres always chip fat.....

i used chip fat in my old mondeo for years - i know its not red but still its cheaper than normal fuel.
Also have bene running bio fuel in my current astra which i think is mixed with kerosene but not sure - it goes well enough too - better than normal diesel in fact

Using red diesel is not good, i used to use it in a vehicle i had, i lent the pckup to a mate who got pulled by the police, they impounded the the car, and i had to pay a fine to get it back.
A mate of mine used to put it in his car and travel to france in it to bootleg boose. he made an absolute fortune, but things started getting heavy with his runner,s getting raided, he told me that its not the copps that fine you its customs and exise, they are employed by the crown, running on red diesel is a tax dodge, they will go though all your home and if you have computers they will check them out as well, they will also backdate the amount of fine to the time you bought the car, calculate the average milage and fine you for the tax that has not been paid on your fuel from the day you got it.
When the customs people come to your house they will bring the cops only to gain access and for their protection, coz if a guy in suit knocked your door and demanded entry you tell him to get f@#ked.
So don,t do it.

Safer using Jet A1 aviation fuel if you can get hold of it.
**Note that you need to mix a bit of oil in because it doesn't lube pumps very well**

I know a bloke years ago who bought a 4 year old saph cossie with a blown engine. He put a diesel engine in it so he could run round on red diesel. His thinking was they wouldnt pull a cossie over for a fuel check. As far as I know he never got caught.
