if this car was built at m sport as a team car then it should have had x-trac transmission, meybe being a customer car it might have had ff developments.

I seen the car win the 2007 wyedean stages rally when a bloke with the surname hunter had it,there was over 200 cars entered up to date wrc imprezzas evos etc and andy burtons peugeot 306,so its a serious bit of kit! Didnt tommy fit a gt30 on the same engine and take it to gatebile and was faster than the norriss evo in the extreme session? it was wet though.

heres the crack with that car and hugh and tommy, basically hugh had the donkey looked after by tommy, now hugh has his cars looked after by lads i know. hugh wanted a mcrae focus wrc and needed to shift the escort so tommy bought it. it got a paint job by phil jones just before it left hugh, next thing its on the front cover of performance ford.
oh and theres someone else who has worked on the car who comes on here, i wonder if he makes himself known

just a quick reply to clear all this up,i bought the car as it is from a freind who bought it from tommy, i was going to put it back to rally car spec and still will if it isnt sold fairly soon. the engine tommy had was elegible for rallying, my freind is now using it for rallycross. i bought the rest of the car to restore and use as a rally car not to break. as for it being dear i dont think so if you look on ramsports web site a similar car ok left hand drive and mint is up for £75000! the reiger suspension on its own costs in excess of 10k the car is for sale due to unforseen circumstances but if its not sold by the time i start work on it then it wont be sold. hope this answers all of your questions maybe soon you will see it back in action in original wrc spec!!

Your right Cozzfather about the hammering gravel cars get.
Good to hear that the cars not going to be broken.
We used to compete against it when Hugh ran it, and it always had a bit missing. lol
Also used to see it at Tommy's as he does the mapping on our rally car.

dunno if i should say this or not.

the martin schanche jr one at ram sport for 75 grand gbp, isn't for sale at the mo, i know someone who wants to buy a complete pukka lhd ex works m sport wrc car and they made enquires about it, the car is in barbados ( probably getting its big ends sucked off) and its not for sale anymore or it wasn't about 2 weeks ago.
maybe the 150 grand euros sainz one is making the owner think twice about selling for 75 grand gbp?

i think when wrc fords are all done and finished the very first one will be important in ford motorsport history, i think the car needs putting back to irish tar specification and its old hertz livery putting back on it.

99% of wrc cars have at some stage been gravel cars , after all 50% of wrc events are gravel stages, its very rare to find a used good spec rally car that has never been in the woods!especially in the uk. this one has always had underbody gaurds on and in real terms is very tidy!
if you are looking for a lhd wrc peter elkins has his ex kankunen/hendy works car r---xvx for sale at £58000 x trac sequential etc

the shell has no ex works value, its had one of the hardest lives of any rally car out there, anyone in gallway in 1997? (i was ).

this car was an xtrac car, being one of only 2 rhd wrc escorts built actually devalues it,you cannot get a rhd proper rack anymore, ask hugh if you dont agree,or karl wilson, etc etc,

25k,thats just madness, its worth about 10k,tops,especially today, the escort wrc is out of homolagation now,25k would almost buy you a 99 focus rolling with the same spec, and a few months ago you could have had a 99 focus rolling shell for less than this.

as for cozzfarthers link to P6fmc at 150 k,thats a bugus addvert because i can guarantee 100% that P6FMC is sat in a workshop very very very close to where i am sat right now,and its blue!

tim you know old group 4 escorts are out of homologation ??? have you seen the prices of ex works mk1 and 2's

you can't tell me that escort wrc's arn't going to go the same way eventually

like i said m sport built the works wrc cars and so long as all the chassis numbers start from 1 and keep going up through all the escort wrc's that malcolm built its the first and imo the one to have in the future.

i dunno about the sainz wrc could be a export scam or the one in your garage could be a Mickey Finn

its chassis number has no value what so ever, and it wasnt the 1st to be built either.you really need to do alot more research if you feel you have an authority on these cars.as for a comparison with a proper period group 4 mk 2,they have a class in historic rallying internationally, whearas an escort wrc does not and never will have, not one wrc car will ever get a second breath in world rallying, hence their fall from the top to the bottom, christ look how much you can buy an s12b for now!!
as for P6FMC i know where it is,and its not in germany!but you will probly argue about that as well.

i remember when old escort mk 2's were cheep and not elegible for historic rallying, and now they are. what makes you think they won't change the rules for wrc's and have a category for them in the future ??

tim you need to remember this, group b was banned and what happened ??? the cars went rallycrossing. a mate of my uncle had a metro 6r4 that cost 25 grand in 89, i have seen them for 125 grand recently.

maybe you can explain how banned group b cars got used eventually

a group b rally car that couldnt be converted to rally use as a 6r4 actually could be and is still eligible to compette today, very rarly ever got used, the rallcross cars were very much nothing like the stage car varients, again karl, you really do need to do more research if you want to add facts to the debate,

as an aside,£25k in 1989 in todays value is???

and the metro for sale at £125k will never ever sell at that price, its worth maybe £55k tops in todays market and a similar machine is for sale for £35k at the moment,do you actually know how much mcraes donegal car recently sold for? clue,it wasnt £125k!

you tell me where the T16,deltas,quatros,rs200's etc are actually competting? the fia have said they will never be allowed to compette in historics however old they get,and neither will the wrc cars, they will not change these rules in the future either, and lets face it,in 25 years will petrol be available?

a mk 2 escort has always been elegible for historic rallying so not sure how you can remember something that never happened.

and as for mickey the finn, perhaps he competted in one of the escorts you know so much about.

anyway, not wanting to get in a slagging match with you because i do think your a decent chap, but please when it comes to rallying try to be real and ignore the max power/pub chat bollocks.

and if you come to my house tommorow evening i can show you why that germany car is not correct.

great i have got a dinner date sorted

tim i was thinking today about p6fmc and i think i saw it on the bulldog 08, is the other p6fmc blue ?

i think you will see more old wrc cars being used in rallycross and hill climbing and getting restored as collectors cars.
what i meant about mk2's was they wern't old enough to compete, it was all mk1's and cortinas and porsches, now the mk2 is old enough.

25 grand for a 6r4 in 89 was 6 or 7 grand more than a new cozzie saph, which car was the better buy

anyway what are you gonna do about the p6 fmc doppelganger

I assume the 125k car your referring to is the black Karl Broad car? There is a substantial spares package included in the price which pitches the car at about 85k, more realistic! As for the 35k car of similar spec, show me please I'll buy it.
