i know i've seen a set of 265's on a 3 door, but that was with what looked like choped about arches

so i'd go with an 8.5 being the widest as plenty run 8's

Surprising how much wider the 3-door can go on wheels/tyres than the Sapphire without mods? I started a thread on 17" wheels for a Sapphire today and people said 215s on 7.5x17s with only minimal mods?

its all about offset, and if you havent got shit saggy suspension.

ironically standard road height on a 3dr, is pretty high, and there is A LOT of room in the rear arches of 3dr, compared to a saph.

16's would be best i would imagine to get the best offset and widest wheel possible with arch mods, but not everyone likes 16's as they think they look too small.

Exactlly what Ryan has said.

I ran 9's in 17's on the rear and 8s on the front with out any problems at all.
