Another boiler question, if I may be so bold.

Another boiler question, if I may be so bold.
Seem to be a few knowledgable folks on here when it comes to central heating, so though I would ask about my particular problem.
I have a Potterton boiler, nothing fancy, hot water tank etc .
Anyway, for the last few days the boiler keeps powering down. By this I mean that if it fails to ignite then a red light flashes. All you have to do is press reset which restarts the boiler and away you go. There is no ignition as such as it's leccy powered.
There are not set time/circs when the boiler shuts down, some days it lasts all day, other it's 5-6 times an hour. I have tried setting the boiler temp on different settings, but again, there is no set pattern.
Any ideas? Cheers

check the pressure maybe. It wont come on if it's fallen below a certain level, which can happen over time. Check your manual for the correct pressure. Not totally sure so check but think it should be about 1 bar or just over when cold

Firstly, what Potterton boiler is it youve got?
Could be either the PCB, gas valve, or the ignition stricker plate or incoming gas problem
If its a Potterton Suprima, it will be the PCB, (common prob)

Steve, that's the puppy, it's a Suprima 70. Previous occupiers never left the manual. Erm, what's a PCB mate?

what a pile of shit was ok for about 2 years then the PCB went then something else then the expansion vessel and since then the pipe from the vessel to the pump has been leaking a bit
its onlt the o ring that needs replacement but i'm not going to fork out anpther Ł180 for those twats to come and fook it up again
need to really know where to get the o ring/seal pack from

Focusv8,
Thanks mate, appreciate that. Spookily enough I have just put this item into my ebay before I came back here, so I sent the chap a question asking if I can collect it instead (save a few quid).
Thanks fella's, hopefully cold mornings will be a thing of the past.
