another thing to try is if the metering head is replaced then note where the mixture screw is and try adjusting clockwise or anticlockwise, i had same problem due to mixture of breather/vacum pipes and that screw.
also if it is plugged in try unpluging the cold start valve, blue plug at bottom of plenum. hope that helps.

no
auxiliary air valve
It is common for people to plug the wires on the wrong sensors under the inlet manifold
you have coolant temp sensor ,thermo time switch ,cold start injector excess fuel ,and auxiliary air valve
the plugs should be colour coded but this was not always the case on the factory cars

check fuse 4 front row of the fuse box,it is labelled as heated seats
when infact it is the main power supply for the fuel box
also check you have battery voltage at pi 1 of the black fuel box
This could take all fookin night via a pc
recon i could have it running in 15 minutes if i had it here lol

if it fires and sounds like a lawnmower and stops cranking suddenly then its the timing.if you have changed the bottom end im guessing you kept your head.the timing blt should run vertically down from the cam sprocket to the crank, then up over the water pump then back over the tensioner then up the cam sprocket.i suspect somethibng is wrong on that side.the timing mark on the crank should be at the top of the alternator pulley verticall.i would look there first.it could be an air leak but that would not stop it turning over and make it sould rough.
