Now then Galbally, you gave me helpful advice last time so I'm calling on you again! Now, besides my Katie obsession that's steadily developing, I've been seduced by the dark side. An earlie post with a done up Orion in it actually....

Should I go for one of those for decent insurance or should I stick to my original 2 litre Capri plan to prepare me for the rigours of owning a very powerful car in the future?

apart from the V6 sierras i've had an XR3i and a 1600i ghia orion:

the XR3i was my first car...

at the time (being a new driver) it felt VERY powerfull and even scared me a few times with the power (remember i was used to being behind the wheel of a 1.1 corsa and never giving it any throttle coz there was an instructor next to me...

in the 8 months or so i had her, she never felt slow... it was mildly tuned, but nothing worth shouting about... i loved the old girl

then after having 2 twinturbo sierras and then going onto the orion (which is actually b19bal's car he lent me ) i fookin hated driving it...

couldnt stand FWD and the 1.6 CVH felt SOOOOO lathargic... admitedly the car was running VERY badly... and was massively down on power, but still...

i don't like orions, but as a first car you can't go far wrong (it will knock you badly on the insurance tho, still high ins. group!) it'll be quick, and not quite as dangerous as a RWD capri... good car to build up some driving experience with tho, and cheap to fix yourself if it goes wrong

ps i think its more SENSIBLE to get the orion and build up some experience before moving up toa more powerfull car...

however i'm not sensible and didn't do that, and wouldnt listen to anybody that told me otherwise
