Map sensor earth

Map sensor earth
does it need to earthed as i have made up a new bracket in alloy but have just notiiced tha one of the bold holes looks to have an earth point as per pic

i dont think so...but i earthed mine to be safe..
but it does have to be sat pipe down...

no, it doesn't need to be earthed.
the 3 connectors on the sensor is earth, 5v supply and signal. it doesn't need any more.

i always earth mine just to be safe
i was told by ava years ago that it didn't need to be but just do it anyhow
that bracket you've made will earth it anyhow by the looks of it

yes it does
The earth tab and open ended screeded lead is to help prevent rf interference

tony, does this matter if you have a car with no radio etc - like my sierra?

well, its's the same.
i know about many cars that run perfectly fine without this, but i would guess that interference could be an issue in some cases.

the map sensor has an earth tag for a reason unless weber thought they would just waste some metal
the fact that a mates car may seem to run ok is not really a design and testing brief in the world of car electronics

not sure if mine is earthed!pretty sure is just bolted to the bracket
which i suppose is technically earthed as it bolted to the body

lol at this serious thread gone wrong
I was told to add an extra earth from mine to the chassis to avoid fluctuation at high revs, I did but I don't if it did anything
