If you have texts, contacts etc on the phone then you will need to back them up unless you want to lose them all when you update! but do not use the pc suite that came on the cd, use pc suite 7 from here http://www.nokia.co.uk/A4630250 as its way better and does what its meant to.

Then you can back up your stuff via that, i used that sucessfully and didnt lose a thing, but id make a note of your numbers just incase, THEN yes it is just a case of following the on screen instructions but make sure the phone is fully charged because if the battery runs out during update it can cause damage which you dont want.

Should take about 15mins to compete the update

Ahh could be that the N96 has built in software(that cant be deleted) that makes it keep all your personal stuff, think ive read something about that.

Ive got the N95 8Gb and that wasnt the case for me.

So is the phone working better now yeah?

It is quicker but the biggest change ive noticed is the camera, when viewing my old photo's they come up abit blurry so I took a new photo and viewed it, again it was blurry but it did clear so maybe the update has affected the camera in some sort of way.

Also when going onto the internet now, it logs on straight away where as before it would ask me if I wanted to connect with 02 or search for another provider.

yeah if you want to ask how to connect each time you can set it to do that, but i like mine to automatically connect with my home router so i dont change it.

Are the pictures clear when loaded onto your pc? they should look superb, mine are just as good if not better than my Ł110 digital camera

Anyone else noticed that the camera lense has to be spotlees or the picture you capture is blurred?

I noticed this after taking a picture and thinking my 2 megapixel 8600 Luna takes better pictures than that at night! Gave it a wipe and the picture was a lot better.

http://www.nokia.co.uk/get-support-a...pdate/download

If theres an upgrade available get pcsuite 7 from the same site, use it to back up contacts etc, then follow the on screen instructions, its very easy

Thats nonsense, the N96 is better spec.

She doesnt know what shes on about, and probably only said that because "they've had a few back"

Most phones have to be sent back not just n96's
