Default Best and easiest way to clean a cylinder head

Need to clean up my cylinder head but i'm too lazy to scrub it with a brush and cleaner

Is there anything i can leave it in over night to get it clean ( costic soda? )

No i don't have a dish washer BTW.

Mr Muscle oven cleaner, the foaming stuff. It eats the carbon buildups on valves/exhaust ports for breakfast. It also does a kick ass job in general over grimey/oily surfaces.

Just dont expose your hands to it for too long, the last time I cleaned a turbocharger I ended up with yellow finger nails for a couple of weeks afterwards.

Sweet thank you

Pay someone to do it? someone said to get it acid dipped but i think that would eat away at the aluminum.

How long did you leave it on there for?

Not long mate, i scrub it as it foams and then wash it off so its probably only on there for 10 mins max.

Another cheap but solution is to buy brick acid - its similar to wheel cleaning stuff but cheaper and available in all DIY type stores. It might be sold as industrial driveway cleaner. Its very strong, you need some sort of container that it wont melt and then leave it in to soak. Beware I've been told it can damage aluminum if left for too long, ive only used brick acid on cast iron blocks/heads before.

pop don to your local paint supply store , buy a 25 liter drum of thinners ,

cheap plasitc storage box big enough for your head ,

fill till its coverd ,

leave in the box over night and hey presto , no scrubbing needed ,

will even take the burn oil stains on the head ,

just cover the box with a lid , tends to evaporate ,

beef

50/50 TFR and water, leave it to soak for a hour then jet wash it. Worked for me no problems.
