Mr Muscle oven cleaner, the foaming stuff. It eats the carbon buildups on valves/exhaust ports for breakfast. It also does a kick ass job in general over grimey/oily surfaces.
Just dont expose your hands to it for too long, the last time I cleaned a turbocharger I ended up with yellow finger nails for a couple of weeks afterwards.

Pay someone to do it? someone said to get it acid dipped but i think that would eat away at the aluminum.
