Unlikely. Every block i've measured has been excessively worn.

You could bore it out further then liner the block? Would potentially be stronger as a plus point

i may be wrong, but im sure the 1.8 and 2.0 have the same bore.

im no engine builder, but i would imagine if your engine didnt have any issues with burning oil or excessive crank pressures (symptoms of worn rings/bores) then fitting a different set of pistons, with a new set of rings, would be fine?

You are wrong, they're different bore and completely different blocks inside. Let's put it this way, Ford didn't just bore out the 1.8 to make a 2.0, they re-engineered the block - and that was only for 136ps.. so I don't think boring out the 1.8 by over 4mm is a particularly good idea

ah ok, just checked on Burton Power and youre right, dunno where i got given that impression.

still, i dont see a reason why you wouldnt be able to fit the RS pistons into a n/a engine assuming the FRS and n/a engines are the same internally. id check rod lengths though to make sure you wouldnt need them aswell.

Brand new short blocks from ford are £800+vat trade price - that's what I was gonna use for my st170 turbo.

You can pick up a whole 2.0 engine for about £200 or so now.

That doesn't answer the question though - £800+vat for a brand new block and rotating assembly capable of handling around 360bhp is pretty good value! (Unless you want more power, of course!)
