Default AVO V Koni Suspension Kits

At some point in the future I'm going to want to put a lowered suspension kit on my Escort Cossie, but I'd like it to look as near as possible as if it's still got the standard suspension on. I've seen an AVO kit of shocks and lowering springs and they all seem to be painted black, is this true for the Escort Cossie (because on some ads they show a red pic). I think the springs you get with the kit are Chassis Dynamics.

Does anyone have any opinions on how they compare to the Koni kits as the AVO ones seem to be a bit cheaper, but I don't want to get one if they're crap, but I would like the more standard look, and I don't want to buy Konis and paint them black.

I'm not into coilovers by the way, it's the adjustable kits that lower the car by about 25mm that I'm talking about.

Cool, thanks guys, I'm not ready to buy yet but I did want them to look like they were standard even though they do give you a 25mm drop.

Anyone else got any thoughts on this, particularly for the Escort Cossie?

Trev - if for your escort then go for Koni's and Ahmed spec springs, its a much better setup than the entry level coilovers both for road use and track use.

if you really want coilovers then double your budget, or you will find that the Koni's/Springs will be a much better investment than £500 on cheap coilovers.

I don't want coilovers mate, ideally I want something with a standard look but with a bit of a drop, which is why I was looking at the AVOs.

Buy the Koni's & spray / powder coat them black, job done. If the Koni's are more than the AVO theirs probably a reason, bet quality, last longer etc.

I have to say that if money isnt an issue then I'd fit the Koni's any day over AVO's especially if it's a road car.

In my dealings with AVO over the years, it is unlikely that they would stay on the car for 12 months without requiring attention unless you just use your car for a few miles a day to do the shopping. Shocking reliability and they always try and blame potholes etc for failures.

Fit a set of Konis and they will still be on the car in 3 or 4 years time without problems. Konis are dearer for a reason. Pay tat money you get tat parts!!

Get a set of Konis and match them to a good set of springs and you will know the difference.

I would also suggest a set of Konis/Eibach springs over the cheaper AVO or GAZ coilovers for the road too!

..........good bit of advise there........i must admit on the two saffs i had them on,the first one i crashed very early in its ownership...........and the second (this one) the front passenger one failed.....thats why i got a set of £500 gaz coilovers (which aint upto much, the avo's were better) )..............maybe i'll try the konis in the future
